Description

The "Connoisseur Series" for alto saxophone was launched in 2021 by Meyer, the standard mouthpiece for jazz saxophone.
The second installment of the Connoisseur series is the "Band of Bros." model, which expands the style of the Meyer Bros. NY for alto saxophone to soprano, tenor, and baritone saxophones.

"Connoisseur Series"
JJ Babbitt, which has been manufacturing Meyer mouthpieces for half a century, has released a high-end model in 2021 that is meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail.
Not only are talented, orthodox jazz musicians such as Mike Smith, James Bunte, and Mark Colby deeply involved from the design stage, but the materials are also thoroughly examined, such as adjusting the hardness of the rubber by extending the vulcanization time when producing hard rubber.
In addition, two of JJ Babbitt's skilled craftsmen are in charge of finishing and inspection during manufacturing, ensuring a higher level of perfection than other models.

"Band of Bros"
The second model in the Connoisseur series, "Band of Bros.", differs from the first model, the Mayer Bros. NY, which was a revival of a vintage guitar. It is a newly developed model developed in collaboration with Mike Smith, a jazz musician who has played in top bands such as Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, and Frank Sinatra, and is also an artistic partner of JJ Babbitt.
Following the overwhelming response to the Meyer Bros. NY alto model, the soprano, tenor, and baritone models were developed to match the universal sound and individuality of the instrument, which primarily covers modern jazz but also covers all jazz genres. Like the alto model, the metal shank ring delivers a flexible, warm, powerful, and dark sound.
By pursuing consistency from soprano to baritone, not only does it make it easier to switch between multiple instruments, but it also creates a sense of unity across the entire saxophone section.
