Description

GD-XIII

The GD-XIII is Ovaltone's third-generation drive pedal, following the GD-013 and GD-013 Ver.2.0, and was named GD-XIII to reflect its significance as a next-generation model while continuing the series.

It covers a wide range from low gain to high gain and was developed to accommodate the wide range of worldviews required for soundtrack production.

As with the first and second generations, the GD-XIII was developed under the supervision of Takanori Goto, a hugely popular guitarist known for recording music for games, anime, and other media, and game sound creator and guitarist Atsushi Sato, who also provided full supervision. The GD-XIII was completed after extensive and meticulous testing by both men.

The circuit is the new GD-XIII circuit, which is different from the first and second generations, and while it has a fundamentally new sound, it is still a sound that is clearly in keeping with the GD-013 series.
The sounds of the GD-013 series have already been used in many works, and the GD-XIII carries that sound on to the next generation.

[Differences between GD-013 and GD-013 Ver2.0]
The basic distortion sound has become thicker and more present, and the sound is more amp-like than previous models, in line with the times.
The controls are configured differently with lever switches; whereas in the previous model the left lever was for EQ and the right lever for distortion depth, in this model the left lever selects the compression character and the right lever selects the character and distortion level.
The main gain is controlled by a wide range of gain knobs, so the right lever is mainly used for character selection.
The current consumption has been significantly reduced compared to previous models, so it is also recommended for players who mainly use batteries.

[Development Cooperation]
Guitarist Takanori Goto has been working with us since the very beginning with the GD-013 series, and he has supervised the design, primarily from the perspective of ensuring that the guitar can be played intuitively and comfortably, and that it allows players to concentrate on playing without having to worry about setting it up.
Game sound creator and guitarist Atsushi Sato has been working with us since the GD-013 ver2.0 release, providing post-production supervision on the EQ balance within the ensemble, compatibility with line and simulator environments, and compatibility with spatial effects.

【control】
●Foot switch on/off switch. True bypass when off.

●Knob GAIN: Adjusts the gain amount.
・TONE: Raise it to bring out the high frequencies. Lower it to reduce the high frequencies.
・LEVEL: Adjusts the output volume.

Toggle switch: Right toggle switch (moves left and right)
High Gain Wide: A high gain mode that maintains a wide range. The basic gain is increased.
Low Gain: This is the low gain mode. The basic gain is lowered, resulting in a more solid sound. By lowering the gain and raising the tone, you can get a crunch sound, or by raising the gain, you can get a thicker overdrive sound.
High Gain: Increases the basic gain. Compared to High Gain Wide, this produces a denser distortion sound that is more focused on the mid-range.

・Left toggle switch (moves left and right)
Classic: Has a quicker onset of distortion, a softer attack and more harmonic overtones.
Modern: The distortion starts later, with a solid attack that produces a slightly harder sound.
