[KM-1]
Muting a snare drum often reduces the powerful sound by half. Many drummers resort to trial and error using commercially available mufflers or everyday items. The KM-1, developed based on the on-the-job experience of drummers, not only achieves a powerful muted sound simply by placing it on the snare drum, but also significantly reduces the time and cost of making a set of spare keys, which can cost several thousand yen just to make one.
~New Standard Gear by Takashi Kashiwakura~
"I've collaborated with Canopus to develop a product based on the key mute I use for my own personal use. I'd be happy if people use it as a new standard piece of gear when they want to add a bit of character or accent to their sound, or when they want to spice things up in some way. Depending on how you use it, you can even create a sound that suppresses the natural resonance of the snare drum.
Because it's magnetic, it can be quickly turned on and off. For example, you can turn it on for the drum fill-in one measure before the chorus, and turn it off just as it comes out! This opens up a wide range of possibilities. The chain-like design of the keys allows you to quickly change the distance. A shallow strike will produce a ringing sound from the key, while a deeper strike will create a distorted sound like that of a compressor. When used in conjunction with a rim shot, this will be even more pronounced, and each drummer's touch will create a unique sound.
Although it has a distinctive sound, I think it will easily fit into a variety of musical genres and situations. Please enjoy using it!
