The KM184 was born from the meticulous craftsmanship of German artisans and the know-how cultivated in many fields.
It has the same transformerless circuitry as the company's high-quality microphone "KM100" series, and inherits the capsule from the classic 70's microphone "KM84."
The sound is clear and immersive, capturing the atmosphere of the moment to the fullest.
It is ideal for recording acoustic instruments and guitar amps.
-----

The KM 184 is a cutting-edge small diaphragm condenser microphone with a uniform, frequency-independent cardioid polar pattern that has become a stage and studio standard for everything from classical piano to heavy metal drums.

The KM 184 offers cutting-edge Neumann engineering. Its frequency-independent cardioid pattern provides excellent rejection of rear sound (180°), even at low frequencies. In practical use, there is no coloration across a wide pickup angle, essential for multi-mic setups and accurate stereo/surround imaging. The KM 184's frequency response is extremely smooth and linear, with a slight treble boost around 9 kHz for added brilliance. The innovative transformerless head amplifier provides a wide dynamic range of 125 dB and is carefully designed to preserve the sonic integrity of the capsule. The KM 184 has extremely low self-noise of just 13 dB-A and can handle high sound pressure levels up to 138 dB without distortion. A low-impedance output stage allows the KM 184 to drive long cables of up to 300 meters (1000 feet) without transmission loss.

The KM 184 is a universal microphone suitable for studio and stage use. Its transparent sound makes it the perfect choice for acoustic instruments such as piano, percussion, drums, acoustic guitar, upright bass, violin, cello, woodwinds, and brass. Of course, the KM 184 can be used by soloists as well as ensembles.
