The legendary K 47 capsule is housed in a spacious, high-precision body, and the high-quality, modern transformerless circuitry is unique to the long-established Neumann company. The rich sound that anyone involved in music has heard is now presented at a high level with clean clarity.

The TLM 49 features the K 47 capsule and the iconic large headgrille design of the Neumann M49, recreating classic vintage tone while adapting it to modern needs by replacing vacuum tubes with a new, trouble-free FET circuit. The unique acoustic design precisely reproduces the acoustics of vacuum tube circuits while utilizing reliable, transformerless solid-state technology. For example, the TLM 49 intentionally adds soft saturation at high sound pressure levels, keeping THD at 0.5% up to 110 dB SPL and gradually rising to 5% at 129 dB SPL. Thus, the TLM 49 retains the sound and dynamic behavior of its legendary ancestor, while significantly reducing self-noise to just 12 dB(A)—all without the need for an external PSU or expensive tube replacements.
With its fixed cardioid pattern, the TLM 49 is primarily designed as a vocalist's microphone, but its clear low frequencies, excellent midrange and gentle presence boost above 2 kHz also enable excellent results with a variety of instruments such as acoustic guitar and upright bass.
