Description

Legendary FET compression with the tone and attitude of the original

Key Features: Record and mix with the legendary FET compressor, boasting a custom-made Class A output transformer. Take advantage of ultra-fast attack times for bass, guitar, vocals, and more. Add the distinctive character, color, and vibe of the 1176 to your signal without compression. Handmade in the USA by skilled technicians.

A faithful reproduction of the vintage 1176 design and thick, warm sound.
Released in 1967, the 1176 Limiting Amplifier instantly became a classic thanks to its incredibly fast attack time, musical Class A output stage, wide range of sound, and ability to go from subtle and transparent compression to all-out drive and distortion.

The UA 1176LN Classic Limiting Amplifier is a faithful, handcrafted reproduction of Bill Putnam Sr.'s original visionary design. Its distinctive sound can be heard on many legendary recordings, including those by Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and Michael Jackson, and remains an essential piece of gear today.

■ Magic Button
The 1176 is notable for its push-button ratio selection of 4:1, 8:1, 12:1, and 20:1.

4:1 is the most well-known setting. When all the ratio buttons are pressed simultaneously, the so-called full-press mode, you can get a special sound that you won't hear in other processors - the distortion increases with a slope that plateaus from the first transient and the time lag that occurs, creating an explosive sound in the drum room mic, a strong fuzz sound for bass/electric guitar sounds, and bringing vocals to the center and forefront of the mix.

■No Substitutes Each unit is handcrafted by skilled staff and undergoes rigorous, uncompromising quality testing.

This UA Classic version of the 1176LN captures every nuance of the original with meticulous attention to detail, delivering the authentic sound that the UA is known for—there's no substitute.
