[Made in Japan! Used Sakae mahogany shell snare drum from the era of domestic production has arrived!]


In the 1920s, when Western music, guitars, and drums arrived in Japan, and in 1925, the same year that radio broadcasting began domestically, founder Eiichi Nakata started "Sakae Rhythm."
The parts used in the drums, as well as the crucial shell construction, painting, and assembly, have all been rethought from a new perspective and meticulously crafted by skilled artisans.
The logo is based on the letter S of SAKAE, and embodies our wish for the prosperity and growth of both musicians and the musical instrument industry. This is a new drum from Japan.
In the sound design process, we prioritize improving sound pressure and directivity. We have tested hundreds of combinations of materials, thickness, depth, and part shapes, and to accurately evaluate the results, we rely not only on deep knowledge of musical instruments and years of experience, but also on evaluations in live ensemble settings. This pursuit of sound is the foundation of development at SAKAE.


The shell material is given the most suitable ply configuration and thickness setting, and molded with high precision. By layering many thin plies, an excellent dynamic range and delicate response are achieved. Superior edge processing also provides a wide tuning range.
The standard 6-ply, 6mm thick mahogany shell has a particularly well-defined midrange, and the Mighty Halo hoops, with their inwardly curved tops, produce a sound that is mild to the touch yet tight and emphasizes vertical projection.


Developed with the goal of achieving the smoothest possible on/off operation, this strainer features natural operation and a pleasant feel.
The snappy stopper (butt) section has an angled shape at the tightening part to prevent the snappy cord or belt from slipping.


By researching wire materials, winding techniques, and stretching methods, and by using thicker wires and larger windings, we are creating a snare sound that is more responsive and dynamic.


These lugs, designed with a curved shape, may look like tube-type lugs at first glance, but by adding weight to the connecting parts, they produce a tight sound despite having a small contact surface with the shell.
Lugs also play a role in helping to transmit vibrations that the shell cannot fully transmit, and by making it a one-piece design, sound transmission from top to bottom becomes faster, resulting in a sharper sound.


By shaping the hoop edge inward, the overtones are controlled, resulting in a truly powerful sound.
