FAQ

Description

Since its release in 1960, the Jazz Bass has been a flagship model for Fender, alongside the Precision Bass, and continues to influence the music scene. Numerous variations and reissue models have been produced by the original manufacturer, as well as inspired models by it from other companies, solidifying its position as a standard model for electric basses.

This particular guitar, which we have in stock, is a headstock serial-era model with an ash body, maple fingerboard, and 3-bolt joint, shipped around 1977.

【body】
The total weight is approximately 4.45 kg. The body is made of ash wood with a beautiful grain. The finish used during this period was "Fender Thick-Skin High-Gloss," which uses polyester as a base coat. The walnut color, which is representative of this era but is becoming increasingly rare these days, combined with the black 3-ply pickguard, gives it a sophisticated look. There is some weather checking and minor dents commensurate with its age, and some tarnishing on the metal parts, but considering its age, it is in remarkably good condition. The metal covers, which are often missing, are also included.

【neck】
The neck and fingerboard are made of 100% maple. It features a 3-bolt neck joint, a standard specification for this period. This is a rare instrument with beautiful flame grain visible from the headstock to the back of the neck and the surface of the fingerboard. There is some weather checking on the headstock, a few dents on the back of the neck, and some tarnishing on the metal parts, but it remains in good condition, similar to the body. The tuners are fairly evenly wound and function properly. There is some slight wear on the frets and nut, but playability is good. The headstock thickness is 14.6mm. The nut width is 38.3mm. It can be said to have a relatively solid neck shape with a moderate thickness.

[Electrical System]
The controls are a standard Jazz Bass wiring configuration [2 volume/1 tone]. The pickups are gray bobbins from the same period, and the control components, including the pickups, are original to the era.

This guitar boasts a slightly tight and bright attack characteristic of the late 1970s, and its combination of ash and maple provides a well-defined mid-to-high frequency range. When slapped, it delivers a clear, percussive sound, while fingerstyle playing offers a solid, core drive.
