Description

Recommended second-hand item!
A rare guitar ordered through M2M based on a 1968 Les Paul Custom!

This 1968 Les Paul Custom VOS Hand Select features a hand-selected plain maple top and an antique natural finish. Manufactured in 2017, this rare guitar evokes the guitarist's beloved instrument.

The Les Paul Custom, the guitar of choice for men!
Standard isn't good enough! It has to be custom! The Les Paul Custom is a model so beloved that even the most enthusiastic custom fans can be heard saying, "I can't get it!"

This rare guitar, based on a 1968 Les Paul Custom, was ordered M2M (Made to Measure, a limited number of pieces, including one-of-a-kind pieces) in 2017. The hand-selected plain maple top exudes a unique atmosphere, finished in Antique Natural. The custom order evokes the image of the body's black ebony top, stripped to reveal the natural wood color. It's reminiscent of the beloved guitar of the legendary Starman guitarist. Apparently, the guitarist himself called the original guitar, which he stripped the black paint off and left the top natural, "blonde" because of its light color!

This model is based on the 1968 LP Custom, which featured a maple top and mahogany body, unlike the all-mahogany 1957 LP Custom! It features an antique-style VOS finish, an ebony fretboard/mahogany neck (which is becoming increasingly rare), a maple top/mahogany back, and two pickups, creating a timeless style that will appeal to any rock artist!

Although production of the Les Paul Custom ceased around 1960, it regained popularity in the late 1960s when it was seen in the hands of top musicians. Production finally resumed in 1968, along with the Standard. While retaining the design from 1960, the body construction was revised, adopting a plain maple top and mahogany back, and changing from the three humbuckers prevalent in the 1950s to a two-humbucker configuration. The result was simple operability and a sound character with a very distinct, edgy character even when distorted, which is now known as the signature tone of the Les Paul Custom.
The 1968 Custom, like the Les Paul Standard, has the classic specifications of a maple top and mahogany top, and while it has the weight of mahogany, the maple top gives it a crisp sound!

The fingerboard features shiny block inlays made of ebony, and the one-piece mahogany neck features a slim, grippy C-shape that traces the original shape.

The now rare ebony fretboard produces a sharper and tighter sound than the standard LP, and even when you turn up the gain, it doesn't get too crushed, creating a masculine tone that's perfect for heavy metal/high-end guitars. It's also popular with those who enjoy hard-edged distortion!

The bridge is a non-wired ABR-1, similar to the 59LP. The saddles are standard brass, not nylon. The tuning machines are Grover Milk Bottle, a standard modification among precision-conscious musicians from the early days. The Les Paul Custom exudes a distinctive presence with its distinctive look, truly reigning as a rock icon!

Judging from the description when it was listed as new, we suspect it's equipped with Custom Humbuckers. The open black finish is a real eye-catcher! Two gold pickup covers are also included. The powerful sound and tone will have you feeling the spirit of the rock movement of the time!

This time, we have a recommended used item in stock! It is a 2017 model.
There are some small scratches, dents, playing marks, paint wear, noticeable scratches on the buckle on the back of the body, small dents on the back of the neck, dents on the side of the body, and tarnish on the gold parts, but none of these affect playability. This guitar has been fully maintained and cleaned at our shop, so it's ready to play right away!

The frets have been reshaped and are ready to use. Approximately 90% of the frets remain.

The nut has been adjusted and there are no problems with use. The truss rod can also be adjusted normally.

The electrical system has been fully checked and there are no problems with operation.

The weight is approximately 3.91 kg. This Les Paul Custom is a heavy model, but it's easy to use and has a good balance that produces a solid sound.
