Headway Headway HD-115 80's SS F's Concept/ATB [Selected at Divider 2025]

This limited edition model was created by luthier Arata Furuhata and features a top made from "80s Sitka spruce," a wood harvested in the 1980s.

This wood has been naturally dried for approximately 40 years, and has a rich, mature sound that is so pronounced that you can hear the difference even by lightly tapping the unfinished board.
Compared to typical Sitka spruce, it has a longer sustain and is characterized by a dry texture with a pleasant high tone.
In addition, the wood grain, which has changed to a more subdued color over the years, adds depth to not only the sound but also the appearance.

This F's Concept model is based on the specifications of the HD-115, a representative model from the Showa era and synonymous with Headway, with Headway luthier Arata Furuhata adding his own unique touches.
While retaining the robust construction of the HD-115, such as the firm, comfortable "Slim V" neck and ARS (Advanced Rear Shift) bracing, the new Headway features Furuhata's signature cross-round 3P back and elbow contours. This is a new Headway design that combines traditional style with modern looks and functionality.

The top is made of Sitka spruce, harvested in the 1980s and aged for a long time to achieve the ideal drying condition.
The back and sides are crafted from Madagascar rosewood, a material increasingly rare in recent years, while the center is crafted from beautifully grained quilted mahogany. The neck is crafted from a rare, one-piece Cuban mahogany, a rare material now rarely available. The fingerboard and bridge are crafted from carefully selected, high-density ebony.
All of the materials used are carefully selected to be of the highest quality, with proven acoustic and visual qualities, resulting in a truly luxurious instrument.

The headstock is crafted from Madagascar rosewood, and the logo features a cursive script crafted from mother-of-pearl. This elegant design rivals the CUSTOM series. The 44mm nut width allows for flexible handling of a variety of playing techniques and styles.
The neck grip is a "Slim V" grip that is slightly thinner, about 0.5mm, than that of previous Headway models and the LEGACY, which maintains the solid resonance of the neck while further improving playability.

The bracing is based on Momose's ARS (Advanced Rear Shift) bracing design used on the LEGACY model, reconstructed with Furuhata's interpretation. Crafted from Adirondack spruce, each guitar is hand-carved, ensuring precision in construction and sound. The combination of an '80s Sitka spruce top and Madagascar rosewood back produces a rich, full-bodied sound.

The contours feature elbow and back contours. Despite its modest size, it features a large radius, achieving the maximum dimensions possible without compromising the internal body structure, volume, or vibrating surface area of the top. This maintains the body's resonance and tone while softening the feel of the guitar against your body when playing, reducing stress even during extended periods of playing.
The "Cross Round 3P Back" design, featuring intersecting curves, is another unique feature of the Furuhata model. This time, flame maple is used for the center piece, giving the guitar a gorgeous back view.

The fingerboard position features a traditional snowflake design, but is specially crafted by combining two types of shell. By surrounding the abalone with a mother-of-pearl outline, the different hues of each shell overlap, creating a beautiful inlay that changes appearance depending on the angle.
The muzzle is also decorated with abalone, adding an elegant accent to the overall design.

This model was born from the desire to take the HD-115 to the next level. It maintains Headway's cherished traditions while incorporating modern sensibilities for even greater quality. The top is crafted from aged Sitka spruce from the 1980s, the sides and back are crafted from rare Madagascar rosewood, and the center is crafted from beautifully grained quilted mahogany. The neck is crafted from a single piece of rare Cuban mahogany, while the fingerboard and bridge are crafted from carefully selected ebony. This luxurious guitar features only the finest materials, with no compromises made in any aspect.
The bracing is a personal interpretation of the design left behind by Mr. Momose, hand-carved from Adirondack spruce. The combination of aged Sitka and Madagascar rosewood produces a rich, full-bodied tone.
In terms of appearance, it features a unique 3P back "3P Cross Round" and a small contour that emphasizes flowing lines. It achieves a one-of-a-kind look while enhancing playability and comfort. Shell material is also used for the inlays and rosette, adding a subtle touch of quality. This model, which inherits Headway's traditional strength while incorporating new ideas, can be called a Type NEXT.
