Description

Guyatone (Tokyo Sound), a leading figure in the electric guitar boom of the 1960s, is an essential brand when talking about Japanese-made electric guitars and basses. This time, we have the EB-25 electric bass, manufactured in the early 1970s, which has a certain resemblance to the F company.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 4.0 kg. Its compact shape is based on the JB model, but appears to have been scaled down slightly. The strap pin is located on the back of the body, which is a striking feature. There are some scratches, dents, and tarnish on the metal parts, typical of its age, but it is in fairly good condition considering its age. The pickup fence and bridge cover are missing.

【neck】
The neck scale is approximately 770mm, and since it is a top-loader, short-scale strings can be used. The frets and nut are worn, and while there is some resonance between the nut and tuners due to the design, there is no significant clogging or buzzing. The truss rod is currently almost fully closed, and there is a slight tendency for bow to form, so the neck is not covered by the warranty. The frets are worn, and the string height is quite high. The nut width is approximately 38.5mm. The neck has a unique shape that becomes thicker and more rounded toward the end. The mute is not included.

[Electrical system]
The bass is equipped with a single Maxon humbucker pickup. It's similar in style to a "jazz rock" guitar pickup. Judging from the stamp on the back of the bass, it appears to be a pickup from around 1972. It has a different character from the JB, but is characterized by a thick, lustrous bass and tight mid- and high-range sounds.
