Description
Description
Moon is popular for its high-quality instruments and reasonable pricing, and by producing only a few instruments per day, they have stubbornly maintained their quality. They are a proud Japanese component manufacturer that continues to be supported by many artists both in Japan and abroad, including Larry Graham, Randy Hope Taylor, Mitsuru Sudo, TAKE-SHIT (cocobat), and Mitsuru Okamine (THE BACK HORN).
This model is a collaboration between our shop and Aki Kawano, a popular session player familiar from our Moon bass introduction video, and we've refined it to offer even more value for money. This is a custom-made version of Moon's standard 5-string active JB model, custom-finished to our specifications. The active model's default wood, ash, has been changed to alder. The standard ebony fingerboard and Bartolini XTCT preamp, along with Moon's own custom quarter-pound pickups, further enhance the bass' punch and richness. While maintaining a peak sound in the low and high ranges, it retains the brilliance of an active bass, while also providing a bold, clear sound that stands out in an ensemble. Combined with the playability of a JB-style model, this is a versatile model that will perform well in any genre or playing style.
The color is an off-the-catalog custom color called "Aged Ice Blue Metallic." It's a unique, slightly greenish hue that resembles sun-bleached ice blue, and is finished with a matching head. While it's a poly finish, the usual final buffing (polishing) has been intentionally omitted, leaving the surface with a rough texture. While maintaining the hardness and stability of a poly coating, it also has the warmth of a lacquer finish, making it the perfect finish for the Moon. These were realized at our request, and are special specifications not found in the standard specs.
This guitar combines professional-spec sound and playability with unique specifications, so be sure to give it a try.
*Due to the painting method, there may be slight unevenness or paint bubbles on the surface of the body, but this is due to the specifications and does not affect the sound or performance in any way.
