Description
Description
Together we designed a stick with a unique combination of weight, diameter, and length. We started by selecting the heaviest hickory dowel and milling it down to a medium-thin diameter of 0.550 inches.
The dowels are then cut to a length of 16.5 inches and given a long taper to counteract the heavy weight. This creates an overall balanced feel, and the end result is a fast stick that's light enough to play in small rooms, yet heavy enough to get the ball rolling when needed and stand up to loud gigs.
For even more flexibility, Zach chose an oval tip for its balanced response and the wide range of tones and attacks that the cymbal can produce, giving him complete control over the final sound.
"I was on a mission to find the perfect drumsticks for whatever style of music I play. I needed something light enough for jazz standards at a cocktail joint, yet heavy and durable enough for slamming down rock hits. And let me tell you, the guys at MEINL Stick & Brush nailed it! My drumsticks feel very fast and responsive, yet the longer length gives me enough reach to hit the drum kit powerfully without feeling like I'm exerting too much force. I always feel in complete control of what I'm playing, regardless of the style or task. And let's not forget that the oval tips of the sticks provide a really great sound when you want to play cymbals really sweetly and delicately. Overall, these are my favorite sticks." - Zach Grooves
