Since its founding in 1947, Tokai has been manufacturing a wide range of musical instruments, including pianos, guitars, and banjos. Their signature models include the highly acclaimed LP-style LS series and the metal-bodied TALBO series, making them a long-established manufacturer loved by many players, both professional and amateur, both in Japan and overseas.
This time we have a very rare "Reborn OLD" period LS-120V, a vintage-style LP copy model.
【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.8 kg. The body is made of maple top and mahogany back. The two-piece tiger stripe maple top is finished in an old cherry sunburst color with a faded reddish gradation, creating a wonderful look. There is some weather checking, dents, and tarnish on the metal parts, but the finish itself is in good condition, exuding the feel of a vintage instrument.
【neck】
The neck is made of mahogany. The fingerboard is made of rosewood. The "Reborn Old" silkscreen on the headstock is a striking feature. While there are some scratches around the headstock and the model number sticker is peeling, the guitar remains in relatively good condition. The tuners are wound unevenly, but still function properly. While there is some wear, especially around the low frets, there is no excessive choking or other issues, and playability is excellent. The nut width is 42.5mm. The neck shape is relatively solid for an LP style guitar.
[Electrical system]
The controls are the classic LP-style (3-way pickup selector, 2 volume controls, 2 tone controls). The pickups are two DiMarzio PAFs, as specified in the catalog. The crisp tone with overtones typical of the old LP style will impress even vintage fans.
