Description
Description
Regarding the condition of this instrument, there are signs of use such as light scratches that can be seen through the light on the exterior, but there are no major scratches or dents visible throughout, and it is in very good condition considering its age.
There is plenty of room in the frets, nut, and other parts, and the playability is so good that it could be described as like new.
There is no visible bulge in the top, and the string height is perfectly normal. Perhaps because the neck is made of genuine straight-grain wood, there is no sign of any warping over time. The lack of change over time is a testament to Collings quality.
This instrument features a 12-fret joint that evokes vintage specs. The UV and lacquer finish highlights the quality of the wood, and the tortoiseshell pickguard adds elegance, creating a simple yet sophisticated look.
The top is made of Adirondack spruce, which is considered the ideal material for acoustic guitars. While this wood is typically characterized by a wide grain, the one used for this model has a dense, high-quality grain.
The back and sides are made of figured maple. The beautiful, straight grain is tightly packed with curly grain that intersects perpendicularly. The way the maple shines changes with the angle of the light, almost like a work of art created by nature.
Bill Collings once said, "Only 1% of the spruce on the market can be used for musical instruments, and the wood we use is in the top 10% of that." We have an overwhelming commitment to our manufacturing methods and materials, and our pursuit of this commitment can be felt in the instruments we make.
In terms of sound, it not only has the excellent response that is characteristic of Collings, but also the soft, mellow, and gentle touch that is unique to maple, and the flexible nature of the Adirondack spruce used for the top material gives it a loud, solid sound.
Guitars made from maple are generally described as having a distinctive "brilliant" high range, but this model has a rich, excellent tone no matter which frequency range you listen to, from the full bass to the sweet midrange and the transparent high range reminiscent of sparkling jewels.
One of the problems that comes with the 00 size is a lack of volume, but Collings has always excelled in designs that combine rigidity and volume, and even with the 14F joint model, there is absolutely no sense of a lack of power.
In addition, this guitar features a 12th fret joint that allows for a larger internal volume. When picking the open sixth string, you can feel the full range, from the thumping bass to the overtones, and the rich volume, so if you close your eyes, you'll feel like you're playing a slightly smaller dreadnought.
With excellent touch response and ample headroom, it's perfectly suited to everything from gentle plucking solos to strumming. The craftsmanship that has allowed this versatile guitar to be produced to such high quality is truly impressive.
It is very difficult to put into words just how good this instrument is, but once you try it you will be impressed by its incredible playing feel.
The Collings is a coveted instrument that everyone wants to own at least once in their lifetime. It is a masterpiece that you should definitely try playing with your own hands.
