Description

This Prime Edge is an original model from the Japanese component brand Sago! This is a special model that was exhibited at NAMM 2025 in the United States.

Sago believes that "Kabuki is the rock spirit that has been passed down since ancient times in Japan," and has fused it with Prime Edge, which has the most rock concept of the company's lineup.

The compact body is equipped with a humbucker, ensuring ample output, while the Sago's original preamp, the SPAEQ3, provides a three-band equalizer and a mid-frequency selector switch, allowing for a wide range of sound creation. The body is made of thermo-treated alder, which gives it a clear tone with a mature nuance similar to that of a vintage instrument, and a tight, clear tone that makes each note stick in your ears.

The body is painted in the "kumadori" makeup technique unique to Kabuki, and finished in the "red" color used for characters with courage, justice, and strength. The fingerboard's top position markers are also equipped with red LEDs.

Thermowood is a technology developed in Finland, a Nordic country, that artificially ages wood through a special high-temperature treatment at temperatures above 200°C, a temperature that would normally cause combustion. While originally developed in the field of architecture, it also has many advantages for musical instruments, the most important of which is dimensional stability. Japan's high humidity makes it difficult to say that it is a good climate for musical instruments. However, thermo-treated wood has a reduced ability to absorb and release moisture, resulting in a reduction in the wood's expansion and contraction rate to nearly half that of raw wood. In other words, using thermowood makes it less susceptible to the effects of humidity.
In addition to the weather, the environment at home or in a car, the spotlights at live venues, and the heat of people all have a significant impact on the condition of an instrument. Using thermowood as a neck material helps maintain stable condition even under harsh conditions, leading to stress-free playing. Regarding the sound, as wood ages, the cellulose and resin content decreases, and Thermowood has a similar effect. While it cannot reproduce the full sound of vintage instruments, it can intentionally approximate a more mellow, vintage-inspired sound.
