This is a Schecter EX-CTM, ordered from PG Shop.
The model that was ordered and selected by PG staff at the [SCHECTER presents Special Adjustment Session & Order Consultation Session with Artist's Exclusive Guitar Tech] held at our store, Shinsaibashi Premium Guitars (PG) in 2022, has finally arrived.
Among the many materials available, the one that caught the PG staff's eye was the birdseye maple used for the fingerboard.
As its name suggests, this wood has an impressive pattern resembling small beads resembling a bird's eye, but even the same bird's eye maple can have a variety of grain patterns. The grain used on this model is exceptionally good, clearly showing the characteristics of bird's eye.
Upon seeing this wood, our staff wanted to order a gorgeous, gorgeous guitar with a gorgeous birdseye fingerboard, and to make that dream a reality, we chose the EX (EXCEED) Series, Schecter's pinnacle and immensely popular series, as the base. The EX Series' concept is "the ideal perfection." The body and neck are crafted from carefully selected materials, equipped with top-notch parts, and each guitar is carefully assembled by a craftsman to achieve the ultimate tone. The comfortable playability is achieved through precise design, setup, and hand-finished finishes, such as the frets and fingerboard sides. The EX Series is truly a flagship model, unique to SCHECTER.
The body top is made of figured maple, which has a dense grain, and the body color has been given a see-through finish to highlight the high-grade grain. The main color is pink, but to avoid it being too wild, a delicate, thin burst of purple is used, and the same purple used in the burst is also used on the body sides and back. The top, sides, and back create a completely different impression, resulting in a special guitar. The combination of pink and purple may seem flashy at first glance, but the subtle grain and adjustment of the burst width give it a subtle elegance while still retaining its flashiness.
The body back is made of light ash wood, and the total weight is approximately 3.66 kg, making it a very well-balanced instrument that is neither too heavy nor too light.
The now-classic combination of the SUPER ROCK III and MONSTER TONE ST guarantees brilliant highs and rich lows, producing a perfectly balanced sound. Coil taps are available for both the humbucker and single pickups, and the Spirit Tone Control allows for low-cut adjustments. The original Floyd Rose bridge allows for flexible arm movements, making this a truly versatile instrument. The combination of the ash body and maple neck and fingerboard provides excellent response and a clear, articulate sound that remains crisp even when heavily distorted, making this guitar not only beautiful in looks but also in sound.
With the concept of a gorgeous and gorgeous model, all parts except the peg buttons are unified in gold color, resulting in a dazzling look that matches the pink x purple x gold image. Considering the overall balance and not being too flashy, the peg buttons are made of pearl instead of gold, giving it a nice, relaxed feel. It also adds a cute accent.
A maple neck and fingerboard with a matching headstock is a little unusual, but this was also a point I paid particular attention to. I liked the combination of the body color, so I asked for the headstock to be finished in a matching color as well. The gorgeous birdseye maple, which was the reason for this order, stands out even more, resulting in a memorable, gorgeous, and gorgeous finish.
This guitar is packed with the quality unique to Schecter EX and the attention to detail of PG staff.
