Description
Description
SDM/Saidera Mastering & Recording is one of Japan's most prestigious mastering studios.
The SD-9007 is a cable developed and manufactured for use within the SDM studio.
The quality that Seigen Ono seeks in this simple act of connecting devices.
The existence of the legendary cable "SD-9001" developed and produced under the production of Seigen Ono in the early 2000s. (※1)
However, production of the SD-9001 was soon forced to be discontinued due to various reasons, including difficulty in obtaining materials.
This has been a theme that has been promoted and pursued at SDM for over 20 years.
"A replacement for the SD-9001."
As the 2020s approached, Seigen Ono was introduced to an engineer by Senji Kasuya, an old friend from the 1980s. (※2)
Mr. Kunihiko Yoshimeki is a talented man who possesses high-level technical skills backed by his many years of experience with historical audio equipment and cutting-edge technology research, as well as the development capabilities to respond to custom orders from leading companies around the world.
A meeting of two extraordinary talents made possible by a legend in the music world.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the two companies continued to develop cables to achieve Seigen Ono's ideal performance. (※3)
Mastering session at SDM for the SACD "Jazz, Bossa and Reflections Vol. 1 / Compiled and Mastered by Seigen Ono" to be released in 2023. (※4)
New cables wrapped in sheaths that radiate a refined shine were connected to the equipment at Sidera Mastering.
Original wire made with a custom-ordered "PC Triple CA" conductor. (*5)
Yoshimeki's techniques and know-how are exquisitely controlled and precisely woven.
The performance that Ono Seigen desired has been realized and completed.
The Transfer Cable - "SD-9007".
"SD-9007": A cable that has disappeared.
Simply transmit the signal purely.
The ideal form of a cable that "connects devices."
When you get it in your hands, you won't believe your ears.

*1 Saidera Ai “SD-9001”:
This cable was developed in the 2000s and is still used at the heart of SDM today. It was also used in Seigen Ono's work in the 2000s, when he converted 10 classic VERVE albums from their original master tapes to DSD for the Verve 60th Anniversary Reissue [Supreme Sound Edition] project, which was later released as SACD with mastering by Seigen Ono. It was also used at the famous Sterling Studios (NYC, USA). Production of this cable was subsequently discontinued due to difficulties in obtaining the wire material.
※2 Mr. Senji Kasuya:
Representative Director of IRC2 Corporation / Chairman of the Japan Music Producers Association. A legendary music producer who worked with Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi and BOOWY during his time at Yui Music Studio, he has since left a significant mark on the music industry with his work with Tomoyasu Hotei, Miki Imai and others.
*3 "I would like to point out that 90% of the time during the main discussion (with Yoshimoki Kunihiko) about cables was spent on connecting people before connecting equipment with cables, such as the late Masahide Sakuma, a mutual friend of Kasuya Senji, and the Berlin recordings of the 1980s. In other words, we were devoted to 'Stories about the important music scene that we need to share now (tentative title)'" (Ono Seigen)
"It goes without saying that sound is transmitted through cables. We use red and blue colors to prevent confusion between left and right. It's better not to have cables connecting devices at all if possible. Cables can be broadly divided into two types: 1) transparent cables and 2) cables that add just a little color. In the studio we have a variety of cables, including MOGAMI and Canare. The SD-9007 is type 1, but I think that the important thing we want to convey with cables these days is not just electrical signals. Can the music be transmitted?" (Ono Seigen)
"I will be releasing the story of the ★ between Mr. Kasuya Senji and Mr. Yoshimoki Kunihiko in several installments so that it will be as easy to understand as possible for everyone. I would like to warn you in advance that there will be a lot of stories (★) about the music production scene in the past, other than the cable." (Mr. Ono Seigen)
*4 [SACD] “Jazz, Bossa and Reflections Vol. 1 / Compiled and Mastered, by Seigen Ono”:
This compilation album, released in 2023, is comprised of a collection of jazz/Brazilian masterpieces that have become new references, primarily audio files. Selection and mastering was done by Seigen Ono.
*5 PC Triple CA:
A custom-ordered conductor made by annealing the next-generation conductor "PC Triple C" after PCOCC. "PC Triple-C is a technology that Japan can be proud of in the world," says Kunihiko Yoshimeki.
