World-renowned funk guitar maestro and 63rd Grammy Award nominee Cory Wong has captured the hearts of guitarists with his unique playing style and unmistakable, crisp tone. Known for his expressive technique, he is admired by audiences worldwide for his unique blend of energy and soul.
In 2022, Cory discovered Hotone's multi-function Soul Press II pedal and was instantly hooked. Since then, the Soul Press II has become an essential pedal for his live performances.
Now, two years later, the Hotone team has used his input to create a pedal redesigned specifically for Cory Wong: the Wong Press. Based on the multi-function design philosophy of the Soul Press series, this new pedal includes Cory's custom specs, including a distinctive blue and white color scheme, a customized volume pedal curve, an adjustable wah Q range, and a travel light that indicates two operating modes.
■ Adjustable Wah Q Range
Achieving the perfect level of tone and pedal feel that Cory desired was a major challenge for the development team. After adjusting countless Q ranges,
Hotone's engineers were able to achieve the exact wah tone Cory wanted while minimizing the risk of an unexpected Q setting change affecting the sound.
■Customized volume pedal curve
Based on Cory's feedback, the volume control has been tweaked to provide smoother, more musical volume transitions, improving overall volume transitions.
■ Travel light that indicates operating mode and pedal position
The iconic travel light of the Soul Press II has been upgraded to a two-color travel light (blue in wah mode, green in volume mode),
This makes live performances more intuitive and visually recognizable.
