Description
Description
This is a special Custom Shop D-28 style guitar that was announced as a selection model at the 2015 NAMM SHOW.
The Martin Custom Shop is a vast factory where all products are handmade by around 20 skilled craftsmen, only the most skilled of whom are allowed to work there, and can be called the pinnacle of modern Martin.
The top is made of rare premium-grade Carpathian spruce, the back and sides are made of rare, beautifully grained Guatemalan rosewood, the neck is made of Juno mahogany, and the fingerboard is made of black ebony. This exquisite piece is finished with hide glue and a thin finish.
Typically, Sitka spruce or Adirondack spruce is used for the tops of Martin guitars, but this Carpathian spruce is a little-known top material that enjoys hidden popularity among Martin enthusiasts.
It has a thick, attacking fundamental like Adirondack spruce, but is slightly softer than Adirondack and possesses vibrant overtones, offering the best of both North American and Nordic spruce. This particular spruce also combines tenacity with a vibrant, expansive overtone. The forward-shifted, scalloped bracing and the hard, sparkling characteristics of the Guatemalan rosewood create a beautiful, bright, and expansive Martin sound.
In addition, all parts are glued together and finished with an extremely thin, thin finish, so there is no loss in the transmission of vibrations, resulting in an exquisite sound that allows you to feel the entire instrument resonating smoothly.
The neck shape is a modified low oval with a moderate thickness that gradually changes to a C-shape as you move up the guitar's playing position. It's suitable for a wide range of playing styles, from tight grips to lead playing with your thumb resting on the back of the neck.
This is a wonderful product that combines the classic yet special D-28 sound with outstanding playability.
The condition shows some signs of use, and it is clear that it has been played carefully.
The body has some paint chipping, but is in good condition with no noticeable dents or scratches. The satin finish around the neck and headstock has some shine to the paint.
The playability around the neck is in very good condition, with about 80-90% of the frets remaining, making it easy to play.
This is a wonderful guitar that offers a simple, beautiful design without unnecessary embellishments, a brilliant, well-balanced sound that captivates both players and listeners, and the sophisticated charm unique to Martin's D-28 style at a high level.
Although it is in slightly used condition, it has been played well and the sound has developed, making it a highly recommended item. Don't miss out!
