The Ibanez AZ is a guitar developed for guitarists with a background in Rock/Metal/Fusion, designed to be versatile enough to handle any performance situation.
The AZ-N expands upon the potential of the AZ series, creating a guitar with a concept of providing a wide range of usable clean tones for guitarists who base their music on Blues/Jazz/Funk, as exemplified by the currently popular Neo Soul genre.
From the pickups and hardware developed specifically for the AZ-N, to the blender function that expands the sound variations without sacrificing the characteristic sound of a 3-single-coil guitar, and even the fretboard that directly impacts playability, this guitar embodies a level of attention to detail that goes beyond simply being a sibling model.
Once you pick up an AZ-N and pluck the strings, you'll surely notice the subtle yet significant differences in its tone and playability.


◆Seymour Duncan Fortuna SSS pickups
Compared to the Hyperion pickup, which was co-developed with Seymour Duncan specifically for the AZ series, the Fortuna pickup, developed for the AZ-N, aims for an even more natural clean tone that can handle a wide range of genres and allows for easier expression of playing nuances. It is a medium-output pickup that also takes into account compatibility with various pedal effects that can be used depending on the situation.


◆Blender
The AZ2203N is based on the traditional SSS pickup configuration and 5-way switch, but it also features a blender function that allows you to blend the sound of the neck or bridge pickup to produce a wide variety of sounds.
By combining the angle of the tone knob on the jack with the position of the 5-way pickup selector, you can adjust the mix of the neck or bridge pickups, making it easy to operate even while playing and expanding your sound-shaping possibilities.

○When the pickup selector is set to the front pickup only, the tone knob at position 10 indicates the sound of the front pickup alone.
As you turn the knob in the down direction, the sound of the rear pickup gradually blends in.

○When the pickup selector is set to the half-tone position of the front and middle pickups, the tone knob at position 10 represents the half-tone sound of the front and middle pickups.
As you turn the knob in the down direction, the sound of the rear pickup gradually blends in.

○The blender function is not available when the pickup selector is set to select only the middle pickup.

○When the pickup selector is set to the half-tone position of the rear and middle pickups, the tone knob at position 10 indicates the half-tone sound of the rear and middle pickups.
As you turn the knob in the down direction, the sound of the front pickup will gradually blend in.

○When the pickup selector is set to the rear pickup only, the tone knob at position 10 represents the sound of the rear pickup alone.
As you turn the knob in the down direction, the sound of the front pickup gradually blends in.


◆Rosewood fretboard with Stainless Frets
It features rosewood, which provides a balanced sound character and a warm tone.

◆Compound Radius Fretboard (228mm to 305mm)
The compound radius fingerboard was adopted to accommodate both deep chord forms in the lower positions and lead playing on the higher frets.

◆Gotoh T1502S tremolo bridge
After examining and analyzing bridges made of various materials, we adopted the T1502S tremolo bridge, which features steel saddles and an inertia block, resulting in a crisp, articulate sound characteristic of SSS-configured guitars, along with the sparkling high frequencies of the plain strings.
The string spacing is a narrow 10.5mm, designed to make it easier to pick across strings, a feature demanded by players who frequently use string skipping and hybrid picking.
Furthermore, it features an arm socket that allows the use of Ibanez Edge tremolo arms and ultra-light tremolo arms (carbon fiber/UTA20/sold separately). Unlike conventional arms that require twisting, the arm can be attached with a snap-in mechanism. The torque of the tremolo arm can be easily adjusted by rotating the torque cap on the arm mounting part. In addition, it comes standard with a stud lock mechanism that firmly secures the studs with grub screws embedded in them, greatly contributing to tuning stability and resonance.

◆Non-recessed bridge cavity
The top surface of the body has no recess. Because the bridge plate and the guitar body are in direct contact, it features improved expressiveness of dynamics, enhanced reproduction of playing nuances, and excellent resonance.

◆5 tremolo springs w/muting rubber
It features a five-spring system that more effectively transmits string vibrations to the body. A rubber spring mute is installed to suppress spring resonance.

◆AZ Oval C S-TECH WOOD Roasted Maple 1pc neck
The neck is made of maple wood treated with S-Tech nitrogen heat treatment technology. S-Tech treated wood has characteristics such as shape stability, resistance to warping, water resistance, and resistance to temperature changes, and is a patented technology in Japan.
This comfort grip features a smooth, rounded shape from the joint between the fretboard and neck to the fretboard edge. The shape is precisely and reliably reproduced using ball milling.
The neck width is set at 42mm at the nut and 56.4mm at the last fret, with a shape that is particularly designed for ease of gripping in the lower fret area and for classical style playing with the thumb placed on the back of the neck in the higher fret area.
The finish features an oil finish that gives it the texture of a well-played guitar neck.

◆Super All Access Neck Joint
The Super All Access neck joint features a stepped carving on the back of the body with an 8mm height difference, and the neck joint is finished with a spherical surface to achieve superior playability.
The cutaway on the bass string side is designed to be shallower, maximizing the contact area between the body and neck. This achieves both excellent playability and good sustain and resonance.

◆Luminlay side dot inlay
These 3.0mm diameter phosphorescent dot position markers offer high visibility, adapting to the rapidly changing performance environment due to lighting and other factors. You'll never lose sight of the notes you want to play, even on a dark stage.

◆Gotoh Magnum Lock machine heads w/HAP(Height Adjustable Post)
It features Gotoh Magnum Lock machine heads, which are renowned for their tuning stability.
It features a HAP (Height Adjustable Post) mechanism, allowing you to adjust the post height and achieve the appropriate tension for each string.

◆Bone nut
We used oil-impregnated cow bone nuts.
The smooth nut design significantly contributes to tuning stability, while also achieving a resonance similar to that of vintage guitars.
