Based on the demanding live and studio needs, the Black Panther Design Lab identifies combinations of performance attributes desired by top performers, called "Concept Hybrids."
By blending different tonewoods, bearing edge profiles, counter hoop styles, lug casings, snare wires, drumheads and shell finishes, we reverse engineer these performance characteristics to achieve the desired result.

-EQUINOX-
(Concept Hybrid: CLASSIC / BRIGHT / ARTICULATE)
The EQUINOX is a hybrid design that combines traditional musicality with modern playability, thanks to its classic styling of 100% North American maple shells, reinforcement rings, and single-flange hoops.
A special satin finish is applied to moderately control vibrations, naturally compressing the sound and giving it depth and character.
It has controlled articulation to bring out subtle ghost notes,
At full volume, it has a bright and open presence.

-SAS (SONICLEAR ATTENUATION SYSTEM) FINISH-
The Natural Satin SAS finish not only brings out the beautiful character of the wood,
The shell's mass is extremely small, allowing the shell to vibrate fully.
A thicker finish like high gloss gives the shell mass and provides crisp sustain.

-Maple Shell-
The stiff all-maple shell and edge reinforcement ring enhance the frequency response, giving you a clear, bright tone that cuts through guitars, large ensembles, and horn bands.

-SONIClear(TM) Bearing Edge-
The SonicClear™ Bearing Edge comes standard on all Black Panther Design Lab shells, providing a flatter drumhead for better contact with the shell.
As a result, stable tuning is possible and the tuning range is greatly expanded.

-Puresound(R) Custom Series 16-Strand Wires-
Puresound(R) Custom Series 16-Strand wire features evenly spaced standard coils in medium-gauge wire, providing an even balance of snare response and shell sound.

-Cylinder-Drive Strainer and Butt-End Adjuster-
The cylinder drive strainer and butt end adjuster use self-lubricating bearings to ensure smooth operation, and the adjustment dial features "Micro Lock" technology.
This allows for precise control and prevents the snare wire from loosening while you play.
