Star's Electric Sitar

A rare model that is an electrified version of the Indian folk instrument, the sitar!

The Electric Sitar ELS-1 is a one-of-a-kind instrument that lets you play the unique sound of a sitar using the exact same playing technique as an electric guitar. Because the sitar requires a specialized playing technique, it's not an instrument that guitarists can simply switch to and play. However, Star's has faithfully reproduced the sitar's unique sound, making it an instrument that's easy to play even for guitarists who don't play the sitar.

The defining feature of this instrument is its bridge, known as the "BAZZ-Bridge." This "heart" of the instrument was developed jointly by GOTOH and Star's after much trial and error to faithfully reproduce the sitar's sound. This bridge mutes the strings with exquisite precision, creating the sitar's unique, exotic sound.
Also, because the body is hollow, you can feel a unique resonance when playing it live, and you can even experience its exotic resonance and sound by playing it through an amplifier.

The pickups are Star's Original Lipstick Pikups, which deliver a mellow low range, extended midrange, and brilliant high range sound that perfectly complements the sitar's robust midrange and brilliant high range.
To add to this sound the sitar's unique resonance, 13 chromatically tuned strings are strung for resonance, and the instrument is equipped with an original lipstick-type pickup specially developed to pick up the sound of these strings.

The control section features independent volume and tone knobs for the neck pickup, bridge pickup, and sympathetic string pickup, allowing for endless sound variations. From the neck side, the controls are for the neck pickup, bridge pickup, and sympathetic string pickup, respectively.

The body shape is also very unique, and the finish has a unique cracked coloring that is rarely seen anywhere else.
