Description
Description
Founded in 1982, Mayones has established a reputation primarily in Europe for its solid, meticulous handcrafted construction, unique and distinctive ideas, and a reliable sound that captivates many artists. In recent years, the brand has rapidly gained attention worldwide. This series, named the "40th Anniversary Series," commemorates Mayones' 40th anniversary in 2022, and is a special lineup that brings together the company's history and technology.
This is a special edition of the "40th Anniversary Series" based on the "Duvell Elite 6" model.
The body top is luxuriously crafted from a single piece of "Master Grade" buckeye burl, the highest grade available from Mayones. With its unique color and beautiful burl grain, buckeye burl has long been a popular top material, primarily for high-end basses. In recent years, it has also become popular for use on electric guitars, making it one of the most sought-after top materials. The buckeye burl used here is truly Master Grade, boasting exquisite grain and creating a dignified, impressive appearance.
The top material features a natural to black burst color that runs from the inside to the outside of the body, with a gloss finish, giving it a luxurious look befitting an anniversary model.
The body is made of black limba (black korina). Limba wood is the original name for korina wood. Limba wood has a similar tone range to mahogany, which is characterized by its mid-range characteristics, but limba wood has a more pronounced mid-to-high range than mahogany, resulting in a more tonal range that is more resilient. While korina wood itself has become rare in recent years, limba wood with black stripes, like this model, is obtained only from the heartwood of a single tree and is also known as black limba or black korina, making it extremely rare. The body material for this anniversary model was also carefully selected by Mayones, featuring the beautiful black limba's distinctive stripes.
The neck, like the standard Duvell Elite, is a sturdy five-piece construction made primarily of wenge and a blend of purpleheart. Enjoy the deep, sharp sound that only wenge can provide, along with the quick picking response that comes from the sturdy five-ply neck.
The fingerboard material used for the neck is the finest Master Grade Birdseye Maple TEW.
"TEW (Tonally Enhanced Wood)" is similar to so-called thermowood, and is wood that has been artificially aged under strict control of pressure, humidity, and temperature to further enhance the wood's excellent durability, stability, and tonal characteristics.
The pickups are Bare Knuckle's original Mayones TKO pickups, developed by Bare Knuckle for Mayones guitars, which excel at progressive and technical styles, and maximize the sound Mayones players desire and the tone of the wood in Mayones guitars.
Additionally, the tuning peg buttons are made of flame maple TEW, and the control knobs are made of body-matching back eye burl, highlighting the attention to detail that only an anniversary model can offer.
There will be very few copies of the 40th Anniversary Series available in Japan, so don't miss this opportunity!
