Description

Ripped Speaker Fuzz is a modern fuzz sound that harkens back to the roots of fuzz, paying homage to one of the earliest methods of distorting guitar and bass sounds. At lower settings, the Fuzz control emulates the classic lo-fi distortion sounds of ripping speaker cones with razor blades, flaky tubes, or glitchy channels on a recording console. Turning the Fuzz control up further transforms the sound into a modern, searing, and deeply saturated fuzz tone.

The RIP knob on the Ripped Speaker Fuzz is a bias control that sets the amount of top and bottom clipping of the signal waveform. This control adds versatility to the pedal and allows you to vary the character of the fuzz. The most natural setting, 12 o'clock, provides just the right amount of bias, producing a pleasantly fat, low-end, bitey top-end fuzz without being harsh. Turning the knob clockwise creates a hard-gating effect with a crackling signal, perfect for creating a dead-battery sound. Turning the knob counterclockwise creates a different style of fuzz with a smooth gating effect that fades out the signal quickly.
The TONE control is an active tilt-shift EQ, with the knob at 12 o'clock being flat. Turning the knob counterclockwise increases bass and reduces treble, resulting in a darker frequency response. Turning the knob clockwise increases treble and reduces bass for a brighter tone.

The Ripped Speaker Fuzz is true bypass and comes with a 9V battery. It can also be used with an Electro-Harmonix JP9.6-200.
