◆◇U 67 Q&A◇◆
Q: Regarding the new U 67 and the 1960s U 67 design
A: The U 67 we are selling this time is not a copy or clone, but an original microphone made to the exact same specifications as the U 67 of that time.
Major components such as the output transformer are manufactured according to the original production drawings.
Furthermore, the K 67 large diaphragm condenser capsule used in the U 67 is still in production today, as it is used in the current model U 87 Ai.
The frequency response of the new U 67 is the same as that of the U 67 sold between 1960 and 1971 (assuming the original U 67 is in good condition).
The U 67, which was produced in limited quantities in 1992, is tuned to have slightly brighter characteristics.
The new U 67 has not been adjusted and has essentially the same linear response as the 1960s U 67.
The U 67 includes some very expensive components, including a large, custom-designed output transformer, a large selection of high-quality tubes, and a power supply with a redesigned toroidal transformer.
Today, the U 67 is manufactured by just three specially trained technicians.

Q: Is the current power supply NU 67 V a switching power supply?
A: No. Like the older power supplies for the U 67, the NU 67 V is a linear power supply with a toroidal transformer, just like the NU 67 A from 1992.

Q: Can I use the new NU 67 V power supply in a 1960s U 67?
A: Yes, the NU 67 V is compatible with the U 67 from the 1960s.
Its high filament current capacity allows it to supply current to the tube while maintaining a constant filament voltage.

Q: Can I use the old NU 67 (1960s) and NU 67 A (1992) power supplies with the new U 67?
A: No. Modern tubes require slightly higher filament currents that the older NU 67 power supply cannot provide.
If used, this can significantly overheat the new tube, resulting in excessive noise that increases during operation.

Q: Can I use the new Neumann EF86 tube in a 1960s U 67 microphone?
A: Yes, only the new NU 67 V power supply can be used. Older power supplies can significantly overheat the new tubes, resulting in excessive noise that can increase during operation.

●Q: Can I use dead stock (NOS) EF86 tubes with the current U 67?
A: Yes, you can. The new power supply will not overheat the old tubes.
It provides the current required by the tube while maintaining a constant filament voltage.
However, not all EF86 tubes are suitable for microphone use.
To get the lowest noise and best sound, you need to test tubes and choose between different characteristics.
