About the S3H
The S3H follows in the footsteps of ADAM Audio's most popular studio monitors, the S3A and S3X-H, and like those two models, sets new standards in terms of technological innovation and design.
Dual 7-inch low-frequency drivers, driven by separate 500W Class D amplifiers, deliver incredibly accurate bass reproduction down to 32 Hz. ADAM's newly developed DCH (4.5-inch dome/cone hybrid midrange driver) is driven by a 350W Class D amplifier and covers the 250 Hz to 3 kHz range. This hybrid design is at the forefront of driver design, combining the acoustic advantages of cone and dome drivers in a single unit. Frequencies above 3 kHz are reproduced by the S-ART tweeter, handmade in ADAM's Berlin factory, a new HPS waveguide, and a 100W Class AB amplifier. All of this combines to give the S3H a transparent, beautifully three-dimensional soundscape with a vast sweet spot.
The S Series' custom-designed DSP not only optimizes crossover settings for linear response across a wide frequency range, but also offers user-configurable EQ and room-adaptive voicing and tuning. The S3H's unique DSP features include factory EQ presets that emulate the character of ADAM's legendary S3A monitor. The DSP also features a high-frequency limiter for overload protection, an AES3 digital input, and future expansion options. Software updates are possible via the built-in USB port, and the DSP functions can be controlled from a computer by connecting the speakers to the computer.
The S3H is a three-way design (horizontal orientation) driven by an extremely powerful amplifier. It was developed primarily for use as a midfield monitor, but it is also fully capable in more compact environments. Like all ADAM monitors, the S3H's sound is punchy yet musical, with crystal clear reproduction of the musically important midrange frequencies.
With a wide frequency response, ample headroom from the power amplifier, deep bass that eliminates the need for an additional subwoofer, and consistent tonal balance at any volume level, the S3H is an attractive choice for professionals looking for active monitors for their studio.
