Description

Traditionally, all microphones used in recording and PA have been free-field: they are designed to pick up sound coming from the front.
However, when a microphone is placed inside a piano, sound reaches the microphone not only from the front but from all directions. Each string is an independent sound-producing body, and the soundboard is also a sound-producing body. In addition, there are multiple reflected sounds from the soundboard, the sides of the piano, and the lid.
This reflected sound reaches the microphone from all directions, forming a sound field known as a diffuse sound field. Only a random-incidence microphone can uniformly pick up sound coming from any direction within such a diffuse sound field.
The PM40 overcame numerous challenges and was completed as an ideal system only after the development of a dedicated 40KHz random incidence microphone.
The microphone head is mounted on a flexible arm, allowing it to be moved up, down, left, or right by 4 inches closer or further from the strings. The PM40's wide range of microphone placement options makes it easy to achieve optimal sound quality. The time-coherent, random-incidence microphone eliminates the proximity effect (low-frequency response remains constant even when the microphone is placed internally and close to the strings).
■Features ・The microphone is placed inside the piano using a special rod, so sound quality is not affected even when the lid is closed.
- No microphone stand is required and the microphone cannot be seen from outside.
・You will be free from feedback.
- You can get high-resolution sound whether the piano lid is open or closed.
- Eliminates interference from instruments around the piano.
- The extendable rod allows for quick and easy installation.
-It is small and lightweight, making it ideal for touring equipment.
- Covers a wide frequency range from 9Hz to 40kHz.
- The diffused field omnidirectional microphone provides high-resolution sound quality.
- Guarantees uniform directional characteristics for any wavefront, allowing for greater flexibility in microphone placement.
