Description
Description
The sE Electronics VR1/VR2 represent the dawn of a new era in ribbon microphone technology.
Until the introduction of the VR Series, the only ribbon microphone capable of covering the 20Hz-20kHz frequency range was the RNR1, developed in collaboration with Rupert Neve. This feat was achieved by incorporating state-of-the-art custom transformers and circuitry to capture high frequencies not normally attainable with ribbons.
Thanks to the superior mechanics designed by sE CEO Siwei Zou and the expertly crafted ribbon, this VR microphone also has an impressive frequency response.
Conventional ribbon microphones inevitably lack high frequencies, so they are often used in conjunction with condenser microphones, and know-how is required to avoid phase issues when using multiple microphones.
The VR series allows you to easily set up and use traditional sound in a variety of environments - for example, the passive VR1 is ideal for guitar cabinets, brass, and drum overheads, while the active VR2 is ideal for violin, voice, acoustic guitar, shamisen, and more, allowing you to enjoy an open and natural sound.
The VR Mic is open, natural, and even a little sexy, making it ideal for recording acoustic instruments and guitar amps. Its unique look and feel have made it a major advantage for artists like Queens of the Stone Age, Billy Gibbons, My Morning Jacket, Pete Thorn, Steve Stevens, John Browne, Neil Cappellino, Linkin Park, Band of Horses, Paramore, Black Sabbath, and David Hodges, among many others.
