Description
Description
The "Broadcast Dual Foot Switch" allows you to control the gain mode in real time while playing, whereas on the regular Broadcast, you had to use a mini switch to change it.
While maintaining the direct sound quality, playability, and simple controls, the specifications are now more suitable for stage use.
This unit also supports power supplies from 9 to 24V, enabling you to create a dynamic sound with ample headroom that accentuates the sonic clarity that is the hallmark of Broadcast.
It takes the great sound of Broadcast and adds the added flexibility of foot-operated gain modes and individual level controls for those who want to switch gain modes on the fly. It comes in a Battleship Gray finish with dark red Marconi-style knobs.
The gain mode (LOW or HIGH) is selected with the right footswitch (a green LED is lit when the pedal is in HIGH gain mode). Each mode has its own LEVEL control, and the pedal also has two internal trimmers to fine-tune the amount of gain in each mode.
Broadcast is a transformer-coupled, discrete, Class A germanium preamp based on classic 1960s broadcast consoles. At low gain settings, Broadcast can cover everything from sparkling clean boost to transparent overdrive, with plenty of volume to push your amp. Broadcast features specially selected Triad steel-core transformers and germanium transistors. As you increase Broadcast's gain, the transformer and the pedal's discrete circuitry begin to saturate, producing gentle dynamic compression and a subtle midrange thickness. With the gain switch in its high setting and the trim control turned up, Broadcast begins to produce a heavier distortion sound with a warm, fuzzy edge. Broadcast covers a wide range of drive and distortion tones while maintaining dynamic range and responding well to picking attack and each player's subtle nuances.
- Carefully selected germanium and silicon transistors
Specially selected TRIAD Magnetics steel core transformer
・BI Technologies potentiometer
- Highly durable Alpha foot switch (rated for over 30,000 cycles)
Individually hand-assembled on a high-quality PCB, all assembled, wired, tested and packaged by Michael Hudson.
Left Foot Switch – Bypasses pedal (red LED indicates pedal is active)
Right foot switch - toggles between low and high gain modes (green LED indicates high gain mode is selected)
LEVEL LOW – Controls the volume of the pedal in LOW gain mode
LEVEL HIGH – Controls the volume of the pedal in HIGH gain mode
GAIN TRIM – Controls the Broadcast gain level (in both LOW and HIGH gain modes) (higher settings gently roll off the high frequencies of the signal)
LOW CUT – Attenuates the low frequencies of the Broadcast (this control
It is located at the front end of the broadcast circuit and therefore works in conjunction with the gain control.)
Internal trimmer – sets the total amount of gain available in each mode.
DC Socket – Broadcast requires a DC power supply unit (PSU) and can operate at voltages from 9V to 24V. Running Broadcast at 18V or 24V provides increased headroom, output level, and clarity. This is ideal for bass applications, or when using Broadcast as a clean preamp boost.
The Broadcast requires a DC power supply unit (PSU). Make sure the PSU can supply 9V to 24V, a minimum current of 20mA, and has a 2.1mm negative center barrel plug. Other types may damage the pedal. If sharing the same PSU with other pedals, we recommend using a PSU with isolated outputs, such as the Voodoo Labs ISO-5 / Pedal Power 2 Plus.
