Description
Description
Freedom, a group of craftsmen gathered in downtown Tokyo who have earned the deep trust of professional musicians both in Japan and abroad, are committed to handling every step of the process, from wood processing to setup, in their own workshop. Their quality speaks for itself, and the original model they have proudly released is this instrument, "Dulake." Dulake is the name of a fictional dinosaur, and the name evokes the image of a valiant creature that ruled and roamed the Earth for 160 million years, accurately capturing the powerful bass and the sense of scale that the instrument itself exudes.
This instrument is a "Dulake" model with a curved top and back, featuring a top made of the finest premium grade quilted maple.
In recent years, many models with flat tops and backs, such as the Flat and Libero, have become available to keep costs down, making curved models rare. However, this is the original, authentic version. Its shape follows the ergonomic designs of brands like Warwick and Spector, allowing for well-balanced and stable playing regardless of how you hold it.
This instrument features a maple/wenge center core joined to a wing section combining maple/wenge/mahogany, and the top is made of premium grade quilted maple with large figured grain, a wood that is now rare.
Freedom's original color, "Sunset Boss," showcases their excellent sense of style and further accentuates the subtle variations in the wood grain. The deep tone and high rigidity are achieved by laminating multiple woods with different characteristics, such as the three-piece neck made of maple and wenge, and the combination of soft and hard woods produces a solid, resonant sound. This resonance is further refined and outputted by the company's original pickups and preamp.
With a moderate compression thanks to multiple laminates, a thick and rich midrange, and a tight, focused sound thanks to the ebony fingerboard, this guitar is versatile enough to handle everything from rock with a pick or fingers, to hard-hitting slap styles, and loud, mixture sounds with down tuning.
Although it's an active model, its basic concept is to aim for a passive-like sound. The small volume difference between active and passive modes and the straightforward tone make it easy to use. Furthermore, it offers the fine-tuning of tone that is unique to active guitars, and with the gain and middle (frequency, boost) controls built into the back panel, it's possible to fine-tune the sound to match the overall sound of the band.
Furthermore, the most distinctive feature of this model is its "ARIMIZO" structure, based on "torque management." The neck and body are fixed together with a brass circular plate and a single bolt, and the tone can be easily controlled by adjusting the tightness of this bolt. This adjusts the rigidity and vibration transmission of the neck joint, which is the heart of the instrument. When fully tightened, it produces a hard, tight, and clear character with suppressed harmonics, while when loosened, it produces a rounder, softer nuance with more harmonics. This system allows even users without specialized knowledge to intuitively adjust it, and since it can be easily done with just a wrench, it will surely meet the needs of various situations.
*Please be careful when adjusting the torque, as overtightening or undertightening may cause damage.
There are some minor scratches on the top of the body and some linear scratches resembling buckle marks near the neck joint on the back of the body, but there is no major damage such as cracked or peeling paint, and the neck condition and truss rod function are fine.
Currently, Freedom is not accepting custom orders, but even if production were possible, the lead time would be several years, and if this model were made with a Dulake curved top and premium grade wood, the price would easily exceed 1 million yen, so don't miss this opportunity.
