A new standard is born.
"Revival 4000 Signature Analogue Channel Strip"
(SSL Revival 4000)

■Mono Analog Channel Strip: Classic Jensen Transformer-equipped SSL 4000 E-Mic Preamps, 4000 B-Series De-esser, Ultimate 4000 E-Series Dynamics Section, Classic 4-Band SSL EQ

■ The "Revival4000" channel strip recreates the iconic SSL SL4000 mixing console.

The Revival 4000 is SSL's high-performance, fully analog channel strip.
It delivers the sound of the SL 4000 series consoles from the early 1980s.
This sound became the de facto standard in recording studios and helped shape the music of Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Bryan Adams, Pink Floyd, Prince, U2, Metallica, and many other iconic artists.
Inheriting the circuitry from the B and E series of the 4000 console, the Revival 4000 delivers the distinctive tone and versatile sound that form the core of SSL's legacy.
The Revival 4000 is a signature analog channel strip that condenses the exceptional sound and outstanding features of the legendary 4000 series into a compact 1U format.

It features a classic E-Series JT-115K-E Jensen transformer-balanced microphone preamp, a B-Series de-esser, an E-Series discrete Class A VCA dynamics section, and the iconic 4-band parametric E-Series EQ (with high-pass/low-pass filters and a brown/black knob switchable EQ).
Offering flexible routing, balanced insert points, and sidechain linking, the Revival 4000 is a legacy channel strip that brings SSL's analog heritage to the modern studio.

■Main Features: Classic Jensen Transformer-equipped SSL 4000 E microphone preamplifier
Equipped with the JT-115K-E Jensen Transformer Balanced Preamp, the Revival 4000 brings richness and clarity to your recordings.
This circuit incorporates the exact same Jensen components found in the original 4000E series channel strips.

4000 B-Series De-esser
The Revival 4000's de-esser inherits the original compressor/limiter design of the iconic 4000 B console, achieving a 10:1 ratio and a 7 kHz sidechain filter.
This configuration enables wideband compression that is precisely triggered by sibilant sounds, making it ideal for adjusting heavy vocals, drums, and other high-pressure sources.
Its musicality is further enhanced by a circuit design that follows the legendary SSL Bus Compressor, adding clarity and a distinctive character to any signal.

Ultimate 4000 E-Series Dynamics Section
The iconic dynamics section that defined the sound of the 1980s is faithfully reproduced with full functionality.
The compressor/gate design is faithful to the original E-Series channel strips, meticulously recreating the circuitry and components that gave them their legendary character.
It features the same true RMS sidechain detector and all-discrete gain reduction stage as the discrete Class A VCA chip used in the original console.

Flexible controls allow you to bypass the soft-knee curve, activate fast-attack mode, and select between logarithmic compression or linear release curves. Combining these features expands your tone-shaping options, allowing you to recreate the tones of countless classic albums created on E-Series consoles.

• Classic 4-band SSL EQ
The renowned 4-band parametric EQ that shaped modern music. The Revival 4000 features two iconic EQ options: the classic 4000 E Brown Knob (02) and the legendary Black Knob (242).

The Brown Knob EQ features SSL's signature symmetrical design with two full parametric midbands, ensuring consistent musical pitch around the center frequency regardless of gain or frequency settings.
The high and low bands use 6dB/octave shelving filters, which can be optionally switched to a fixed Q bell response.
This EQ became a staple in recording and mixing in the early 1980s.

Developed in 1983 in collaboration with the legendary George Martin, the "242" EQ circuit was created for the first SSL console installed at AIR Studios.
Known as the Black Knob EQ, this EQ introduces a wider cut and boost range (±18 dB compared to ±15 dB), refined control response, and a steeper 18 dB/octave high-pass filter, resulting in tighter low-end control and tonal flexibility.

Flexible processing and routing
The Revival 4000 features dedicated balanced insert points, allowing for seamless integration of external outboard gear into the signal path.
Furthermore, it features a dedicated external sidechain (key) input, flexible processing order, and sidechain linking, making it ideal for pairing two Revival 4000s for a stereo setup.

What is the SSL SL4000 series console?
Released in 1976, the SSL SL4000 series consoles revolutionized music production and established a new standard that shaped the history of music.
It all started with a rare SL 4000 B console installed in a London townhouse studio.
The 4000 B was used to create groundbreaking hits such as Peter Gabriel's "Intruder" and Phil Collins' gated drum sensation "In the Air Tonight."
Released in 1979, the 4000 E was adopted by legendary studios such as Abbey Road, Electric Lady, and Hit Factory.
This empowered engineers like Hugh Padgham (David Bowie, Paul McCartney, The Police), Chris & Tom Lord-Alge (James Brown, The Rolling Stones, Santana), and Andy Wallace (Prince, Bruce Springsteen, Nirvana) to shape their sound.
The SL4000 series consoles have become the standard in professional recording studios and are SSL's flagship mixing consoles, which have propelled SSL to become a global audio equipment brand.
The SL4000 series consoles continue to be in operation in studios and are still used for music production.
