Fender USA VINTAGE Duo Sonic '64 White/R [Featured in Ikeshibu Used Goods Special Sale]

The Duo Sonic, a two-pickup model that debuted in 1956 alongside the Musicmaster, a popular single-pickup model known as a student model of Fender guitars, features a compact body incorporating original parts comparable to those of regular models. It is widely known as a model that is highly regarded by vintage guitar fans for its sound.

This particular instrument was shipped around 1964. It's a highly original instrument in excellent condition with a great sense of character.

【body】
The total weight is approximately 2.7 kg. The small, thin body, measuring 38.8 mm thick, is finished in a thin white color, a feature also found on the "Mustang" models that appeared around this time. There is some weather checking commensurate with its age, paint peeling and scratches on the body top and back due to age, and some plating peeling and tarnishing on the metal parts, but it is in relatively good condition and has a wonderful vintage guitar feel.

【neck】
The neck is made of maple. The fingerboard is made of beautiful rosewood with clay dot position markers. The decal logo on the headstock shows some slight fading, but the model name and other details are clearly visible. There is some weather checking and minor scratches, but it is in relatively good condition. The tuners are slightly inconsistent in their tension, but they function properly. The frets and nut are in their original condition, showing some wear, but there are no extreme buzzing issues and playability is good. The headstock thickness is 14.3mm. The nut width is 38.7mm. Despite its small 22-1/2 inch scale length, it features a relatively solid neck shape.

[Electrical System]
The controls are simple: a 3-way toggle switch (connected in series when mixed), one volume control, and one tone control. The pickups are original black bobbins with date stamps, and the capacitors are also in excellent condition, just as they were back then.

The neck and bridge pickup positions deliver a very clear and glossy tone with excellent projection, while the series sound when mixed offers both thickness and richness. This is a fantastic guitar that allows you to enjoy bluesy playing, slide guitar, and even intentionally crushing the sound with strong picking—all the fun you can get from a short-scale guitar.
