Description
Description
This particular bass, shipped around 1975, features an ash body and a natural finish.
【body】
The total weight is approximately 4.5 kg. The body is made of ash wood. A natural color is used to highlight the beauty of the wood grain. Overall, there is some weather checking, paint peeling due to aging of the clear topcoat, dents, and tarnishing of metal parts such as the control knobs. It is in relatively good condition, with a nice vintage feel. The screw that secures the pickguard in the center is broken and is no longer functional. Other metal covers are missing.
【neck】
The neck is made of one piece of maple. There is some weather checking, mainly on the headstock, and some tarnishing on the metal parts, but thanks to the refinishing of the fretboard and the back of the neck during the refretting process, it remains in good condition. The tuners function properly, although there is some slight variation in the tightness of the windings. The frets and nut have been replaced and leveled by our shop using a PLEK machine, resulting in excellent playability. The headstock thickness is 13.6mm. The nut width is 41.0mm, and it is a B-neck specification. It features a relatively sturdy neck shape.
[Electrical System]
The controls are a simple master volume/master tone setup with a single pickup. The control components, including the pickup, are in excellent condition, just as they were at the time.
This Precision Bass from the ash-bodied era boasts a tight, solid bass tone and a pleasingly forward midrange, ensuring it doesn't get lost in a band mix. With the tone knob rolled down, you get a thick, sustained sound, while with it fully open, you achieve a bright, crisp tone reminiscent of the 70s. As you can see from the artists who used Precision Basses during this period, it's a versatile instrument that's easy to use across a wide range of genres.
