Having devoted himself to playing many musical instruments since childhood, he established his presence as a jazz saxophonist during his student years, both as a soloist and in big bands. In 1978, he debuted as an original member of THE SQUARE (now T-SQUARE), and his pop instrumental style using saxophone and wind synthesizer has garnered him many fans. He is also the creator of songs such as "Takara-jima" (Treasure Island), which enjoys immense popularity in the wind band world.
He also actively pursues a solo career and has been active as the frontman of many bands, appearing on numerous albums and performing live. Even now, at over 70 years old, he continues to captivate many fans as a leading figure in the Japanese fusion music scene.
