The brand name MAPEX is an acronym for Music And Percussion Excellence, reflecting the manufacturer's understanding of the relationship between performers and instruments. -Black Panther Series-
The Mapex flagship snare drum series, "Black Panther," made a sensational debut in 1997 and has been a huge success ever since.
First, we determine the ideal sound concept, and then select and optimize the shell material, thickness, bearing edge shape, hoops, lugs, snare wires, head, finish, etc., accordingly. Furthermore, we analyze the materials and frequency characteristics based on scientific trials at the Mapex Research Center and reflect this in the design.
As a result, each model has been given a unique and distinctive name, creating a truly remarkable product.
Furthermore, it is equipped with Mapex's unique Air Flow Venting and Cylinder-Drive Strainer, making it a snare drum series that leads not only Mapex itself but also drum manufacturers worldwide.

-Snare Concept: WASP-
As its name "Wasp" suggests, this snare drum boasts a sharp, bee-stinging attack thanks to its small diameter. The steel shell delivers a dry, tight, and punchy sound, making it a great high-pitched effect side snare for those crucial moments. With the optional MSSTC tom holder, it can be mounted on cymbal stands, holders, drum racks, etc. Its portability makes it ideal as a compact main snare for jam sessions and street performances.

-Sonic Saver Hoops-
The Sonic Saber hoop features a unique inward-curved shape that strikes a perfect balance between the strong resonance of a die-cast hoop and the open resonance of a pressed hoop. The sound doesn't spread too much outwards, it takes microphones well, and it delivers a calm, vintage sound despite being a modern drum kit.

-SONIClear Bearing Edge-
The "Sonicrear Bearing Edge" is a revolutionary edge shape that is standard on Mapex drums.
The edges are shaped to ensure the drumhead makes perfect flat contact with the shell. This results in a well-balanced tension during tuning, making tuning easier. In addition, it allows the drumhead to vibrate freely and fully.
Furthermore, the increased contact area between the head and the shell allows head vibrations to be transmitted more efficiently to the shell, resulting in improved low-end frequencies, tonal depth, and sustain. This also provides a wider tuning range than ever before.

-2-Air Flow Venting-
One of the most important elements in drumming is "feel." Airflow vents are key to maximizing this feel and the overall resonance of the shell. Through meticulous testing, each model is equipped with ventilation holes that achieve both the ultimate playability and a high-quality, rich sound and resonance.

-Cylinder-Drive Strainer & Batt Side Adjuster-
The cylinder drive strainer and butt side adjuster operate smoothly thanks to the use of lubricated bearings. The adjustment knobs utilize "Micro-Lock" technology for a satisfying click, ensuring precise tension control and eliminating loosening.

-Tom Holder Mount Bracket-
It comes equipped with a tom holder mounting bracket, and by using the MSSTC tom holder (sold separately), it can be mounted and installed on cymbal stands, holders, drum racks, etc.
