FAQ

Description

The King Comp is an ultra-low-noise Class A VCA compressor pedal that brings studio-quality dynamics to your pedalboard.

From subtle, smooth compression to powerful sustain, it enhances your tone by adding clarity and warmth without sacrificing touch. It's also perfect for tightening clean tones or smoothing out single-note lines on guitar or bass. With adjustable attack and release knobs, you can sculpt your ideal sound exactly as you want it, providing precise dynamic control that is musical and amp-responsive, from a light sheen to heavy compression.

Main features:
• VCA compressor pedal with volume, compression, attack, and release controls • 18V DC power supply

The King Comp is an ultra-low-noise Class A VCA compressor pedal that delivers smooth, musical compression while maintaining a distinctive sound. It adds sustain, attack, and sparkle while preserving the dynamics and feel of your playing. The versatile attack control allows for a wide range of adjustments, from subtle tightening to clearly defined, bouncy compression. Furthermore, the release control allows you to achieve sustain that makes notes and chords seem to stretch on forever.

Employing an all-analog circuitry signal path, this pedal functions as a tone shaper, a solo boost, or, when left on at the beginning of a chain, adds depth and clarity to your sound. Powered by 18V, it provides ample headroom, accommodating high-output pickups and complex effects boards. It excels not only on guitarists' boards but also on bass rigs, tightening the low end, adding presence, and smoothly shaping dynamics without sacrificing low-end power.

■ VCA Class A Compression
At the heart of the King Comp is a Class A VCA compression circuit, offering both precise dynamic control and a warm, natural feel. While many compressors flatten the sound, the King Comp enhances sustain and attack while preserving tone and maintaining a comfortable, playable response. Designed for guitarists and bassists, this studio-quality circuit provides practical stage performance while delivering musical and pleasing compression at any setting.

■ Attack & Release at Your Mercy This pedal-type compressor features "attack" and "release" controls, a rare feature in such pedals. This is incredibly convenient. Setting the attack to fast quickly suppresses the sound's initial attack, resulting in a tighter compression effect. Conversely, setting the attack slow means the compression acts later in the sound, creating a punchier sound.

Setting a faster release will increase the clean volume and result in more transparent compression. On the other hand, a slower release will produce a gentler, smoother, and more expansive sound.

■ Built-in LED Feedback: The built-in LED changes from blue to pink when compression is activated, allowing you to visually confirm the change in sound.

■ Buffered Bypass
The King Comp employs a high-quality buffered bypass circuit, ensuring a strong and stable signal even when the pedal is off. This buffer prevents the loss of high frequencies that can occur with passive true bypass, especially when using large pedalboards or long cables.

Maintain clarity and punch throughout the entire signal chain, keeping the sound well-defined. Its meticulous design ensures it can be confidently integrated into always-on setups.

■ High Headroom Power Supply
The King Comp is powered directly from an external 18V DC power supply. This gives the pedal even more headroom and clarity, making it particularly useful with hot pickups, basses, or more complex pedalboard setups. Operating with an external 18V maximizes dynamic range, reduces compression artifacts, and delivers the most open and transparent version of your instrument's tone. This is designed for players who demand the cleanest and most responsive performance from their compressor.
