AZS with a single-cut body [Hardtail Bridge Model]

■Single-Cut AZS Body
Despite being a single-cutaway guitar, it features an original body shape designed for both comfort and a contemporary look. The elbow contour and thinly finished body contour create a sense of unity between the player and the guitar, greatly contributing to improved playability. The deep waist of the body also makes it easy to hold and handle on stage, resulting in high playability. Whether sitting or standing, the ergonomic design provides a comfortable fit the moment you pick up the guitar.

■Seymour Duncan pickups
The neck position features a Magic Touch-Mini mini-humbucking pickup with ample headroom, prioritizing ease of sound shaping by balancing responsiveness to picking nuances with a fat tone and sharpness. The bridge position is equipped with an Alnico II Pro™ Custom single-coil pickup, which has a peak in the midrange, producing a warm, twangy tone and natural sustain.

■Steel pickup mounting plate
The single-coil pickups are mounted using a plate-mount system (steel, Ibanez original), which is essential for a clear, fat, and twangy tone.

■Control plate specially designed for AZS series
The AZS hardtail models feature a curved, original-design control plate to improve accessibility to all knobs and switches.

■Gotoh F1803 bridge
This hardtail bridge is specifically designed for the AZS and features Gotoh & Ibanez In-Tune custom saddles. It makes direct contact with the body and, combined with the titanium saddles, is characterized by excellent resonance and long sustain.

■Gotoh & Ibanez co-designed In-Tune saddles
While 3-way saddles are an essential element for the sound of single-cut/flat-top guitars, they have historically been problematic in terms of intonation and tuning accuracy. Gotoh(R) In-Tune saddles address this by incorporating string grooves, improving intonation accuracy. These grooves also have the added benefit of preventing string slippage, a common issue with classic-style saddles.

Inheriting that design philosophy, the Gotoh(R) & Ibanez In-Tune saddle was developed specifically for the AZS.
First, taking into account the preferences of modern guitarists who favor skipping and hybrid picking, we set the string spacing to 10.5mm (commercially available In-Tune models are 10.8mm).
To ensure consistent string spacing, it is preferable for each saddle to have a small incline. To achieve this, Gotoh(R) & Ibanez In-Tune saddles have slightly deeper string grooves for the 1st and 6th strings than the other strings, preventing each saddle from becoming excessively low on the outside. Additionally, the saddle sides are designed with a gentle rounded shape to minimize the friction between saddle edges that could cause string spacing inconsistencies.

■dyna-MIX with Alter switch
With a single flick of a mini-switch, you can freely switch between humbucker and single-coil modes, achieving a wide variety of sounds. The AZS offers a total of five sound variations.

■Super All Access Neck Joint
The Super All Access neck joint features a stepped carving on the back of the body with an 8mm height difference, and the neck joint is finished with a spherical surface to achieve superior playability.
The cutaway on the bass string side is designed to be shallower, maximizing the contact area between the body and neck. This achieves both high playability and excellent sustain and resonance.

■AZ Oval C S-TECH WOOD Roasted Maple neck
The neck is made of maple wood treated with S-Tech nitrogen heat treatment technology. S-Tech treated wood has characteristics such as shape stability, resistance to warping, water resistance, and resistance to temperature changes, and is a patented technology in Japan.
One of the defining features of the AZ series of guitars designed for modern guitarists is the smooth neck grip shape: AZ Oval C. This shape is also adopted in the AZS series.
This comfort grip features a smooth, rounded shape from the joint between the fretboard and neck to the fretboard edge. The shape is precisely and reliably reproduced using ball milling.
The neck width is set at 42mm at the nut and 56.4mm at the last fret, with a shape that is particularly designed for ease of gripping in the lower fret area and for classical style playing with the thumb placed on the back of the neck in the higher fret area.

■Bone nut
We used oil-impregnated cow bone nuts.
This design significantly contributes to tuning stability by improving the smoothness of the strings and nut, as well as enhancing resonance.

■Gotoh Magnum Lock machine heads w/HAP
It features Gotoh(R) Magnum Lock machine heads, which are renowned for their tuning stability.
It features a HAP (Height Adjustable Post) mechanism, allowing you to adjust the post height and achieve the appropriate tension for each string.
