Description

Carefully selected consignment items (sales on behalf of customers)

The Les Paul Custom, which debuted in 1954 as a Les Paul model aimed at jazz musicians, boasted the luxurious looks of the high-end archtop guitars of the time. After many twists and turns, it has become a legendary guitar beloved by rock musicians and remains immensely popular today.

This latest arrival is a model that has undergone minor changes since the 1968 re-release. It commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Les Paul Custom, which was released in 1974 and features "TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY" on the 15th fret position marker. This particular guitar was shipped around 1975. This model, featuring a three-piece mahogany neck, is popular for both its looks and sound.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 4.5 kg. The body is made of a three-piece maple top and pancake mahogany back. While the Les Paul Custom is typically known for its ebony black finish, the faded, brownish sunburst color is also very stylish and tasteful. While there is some weather checking and dents consistent with its age, paint deterioration around the control knobs, and peeling and dullness of the gold plating on the gold parts, the instrument still has the feel of a vintage instrument, yet is in relatively good condition. The switch plate, jack plate, pickup rings, control knobs, pickguard, and bridge have all been replaced with new ones of the same type.

【neck】
The neck is a three-piece mahogany with a volute. The fingerboard is made of precious ebony. The 15th fret position marker clearly reads "TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY." There is some weather checking around the headstock inlay and dents around the headstock and the back of the neck, but like the body, the guitar is in good condition, reflecting its age. The serial number and "MADE IN USA" are engraved. The tuners have been replaced from Grover 102s to older Kluson VX-501s. The tuners function well with little variation in winding. The frets and nut have been replaced, and there is currently little wear, ensuring good playability. The nut width is 43.2mm. The neck shape is of a moderate thickness.

[Electrical system]
The controls are the familiar Les Paul model: 3-way pickup selector, 2 volume controls, and 2 tone controls. The pickups are T-top humbuckers with the original patent number engraved on them. It's great to see that the pickups and other controls remain in their original condition. The guitar boasts a rich, natural tone with pleasant overtones and a thick tone backed by the wood, while also boasting a crisp, lustrous clean tone and a powerful, driving sound.
