Roger Sadowsky's goal was to further improve an already highly successful bass design by making numerous detailed improvements. Along with his self-developed active circuitry, he succeeded in elevating the J/J bass sound to a new level. All the characteristics of this bass sound—the quintessential Sadowsky tone—including its clear, punchy lows, modern yet not overly aggressive midrange, and crisp highs—are inherited by the MetroLine series, exclusively manufactured in Germany.
Following the global acclaim for its domestically produced models, the transition to models manufactured at the German/Warwick factory generated considerable buzz. While largely retaining the basic concepts and specifications, Warwick leverages its strength in its "vast wood stock" to utilize hand-selected materials, resulting in the adoption of a chambered body—a feature not found in the regular Japanese-made models—and achieving a lightweight body of approximately 4kg or less for all models.
This limited-edition 2026 model features a spalted maple body top, carefully selected from a vast stock, a lightweight yet resonant okoume back, and a roasted maple neck. The all-black hardware contributes to its sleek, Sadowsky-esque look reminiscent of NYC models, truly befitting a limited edition. The P/J pickup configuration, with a P-style front pickup and a soapbar rear pickup, allows for intuitive control, from traditional, punchy tones to modern, bright, and punchy sounds. Its responsive, resonant sound and high playability deliver world-class professional-grade sound, perfect for stage and recording applications.
Above all, the top wood, which is completely covered with exquisite grain patterns, is something you will hardly ever see anywhere else. This gorgeous and unique limited edition model was made possible only by the Warwick workshop, which "sources rare woods in whole logs."
This extremely rare guitar is limited to just 135 units worldwide, including both 4- and 5-string models. A limited edition model made possible only by Sadowsky as they move forward in a new direction – please give it a try.
