Descripción
In the 1970s, various SG models underwent specification changes and additions, resulting in a wide range of variations. This particular model is an SG Standard equipped with two humbuckers, featuring the new small pickguard design from the 70s.
【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.0 kg. The familiar thin mahogany body has a natural color that brings out the inherent color of the mahogany. One of its charms is the small pickguard, a basic specification of this period. There are scratches, weather checking, and tarnishing of the parts that are appropriate for its age, but the gloss of the paint itself is good, and it is in relatively good condition while still exuding the atmosphere of a vintage instrument.
【neck】
The neck is made of 3-piece mahogany. The fingerboard is made of rosewood. The position markers on the fingerboard are block inlays, a characteristic of standard grade guitars from this period. There is some weather checking mainly at the material boundaries, burn marks from the stand on the back of the neck, and some minor dents, as well as some tarnishing on the metal parts, but like the body, it is in relatively good condition. The tuners are well-functioning with little variation in winding tension. The frets are wide and low, a characteristic of original 1970s models, and there is only slight wear, including at the nut, with no issues such as dead spots. The nut width is 40.7mm. It features a relatively solid neck shape.
[Electrical System]
The controls are the familiar Les Paul/SG series configuration: 3-way pickup selector, front position volume, front position tone, rear position volume, and rear position tone. It comes standard with the distinctive "Gibson Super Humbucker" pickups. The control system, including the pickups, is in its original condition.
This guitar features a light and responsive tone thanks to its slim body, combined with the rich mid-low frequencies characteristic of humbuckers. While the tone is clear and well-defined, it also has a solid core and sustain. You can enjoy a thick, warm sound in the front position and a crisp, edgy sound in the rear position. With clean tones, it offers excellent chord separation and rich resonance, and when driven, it delivers a thick midrange and extended sustain reminiscent of the 70s, making it a versatile guitar suitable for a wide range of genres, from blues to hard rock.
