aNueNue aNN-Shimo's Dolphin 2025 III Anuenue

A special tenor ukulele where artistry and musicality resonate, reflecting the joyful scenery of the sea!

aNueNue, known for its original instrument making, and Shimo Guitars, highly acclaimed for its exquisite decorative techniques, have collaborated to create the "aNN-Dolphin 2025 III," a model that embodies the sensibilities of both companies.

For this model, Johnson, the representative of aNueNue, handled the overall design of the instrument, while Takahiro Shimo of Shimo Guitars was in charge of the inlay design. This limited-production model pursues both the perfection of the instrument and the beauty of a work of art, while making the most of each of their strengths.

The first thing that catches the eye is the striking, vibrant blue body top. It features a double-layer construction combining cedar and quilted sapele, showcasing the unique, three-dimensional grain of quilted sapele. Its appearance, which changes depending on how the light hits it, is reminiscent of gazing at an underwater landscape bathed in sunlight.

The sides and back are luxuriously crafted from rare 5A grade Taiwanese acacia. The complex and beautiful wood grain and warm colors created by nature create a vivid contrast with the blue top, resulting in a truly unique presence.

Of course, its appeal isn't limited to its appearance.

The body features lattice bracing, resulting in rich volume and extended sustain. While maintaining the soft, sweet tone characteristic of cedar, it boasts clear tonal contours and a pleasantly expansive, brilliant high range. With the full sound unique to tenor ukuleles, you can enjoy expressive playing, from delicate fingerstyle to light strumming.

And an essential element when discussing this model is the beautiful inlay work by Takahiro Shimo.

The decorations that extend from the headstock to the fretboard feature motifs such as dolphins swimming freely in the sea, seagulls, waves, and splashes of water. By skillfully using materials with different sheen, such as pink abalone, mother-of-pearl, and abalone, the scenery of the sea is vividly depicted. From the meticulously finished decorations, one can feel Mr. Shimo's exceptional aesthetic sense and craftsmanship.

Furthermore, high-quality materials are used throughout, such as the curly maple binding that frames the body and the rosette combining stained wood, pink abalone, and rosewood. The glossy finish that envelops the entire instrument highlights the grain of the wood and the brilliance of the decorations, further enhancing its elegance as a musical instrument.

In terms of playability, it features an original cutaway designed with fingering in the higher positions in mind. The tuning machines are equipped with GOTOH UPT tuners, supporting comfortable operation and stable tuning.

Beautiful wood, exquisite decoration, and a rich sound. The "aNN-Dolphin 2025 III" is born from the harmonious blend of these individual charms, transcending the boundaries of a mere musical instrument. It is a special ukulele that offers both the joy of looking at it and the pleasure of playing it.

Please enjoy the unique worldviews created by the two brands, aNueNue and Shimo Guitars, right in your own hands.
