The top features sinker redwood, which has acquired a unique color and texture from being submerged in water for many years.
One of its greatest appeals is the unique character that can only be found in wood that has been dormant for decades, sometimes even longer, and which cannot be found in ordinary new wood. It is also appealing because it responds sensitively to even a light touch, producing a rich sound that rises softly from the moment it is played, while also responding firmly with a wide dynamic range when played strongly.
This extremely rare top wood offers a story to enjoy, as it transforms wood that has spent many years in nature into a new instrument through Lowden's advanced craftsmanship.

The sides and back are crafted from the extremely rare "African Blackwood." Its deep, almost jet-black hue and the beautiful sheen it develops when polished give it a presence befitting a truly special instrument.
African blackwood is an extremely rare wood, known for its limited growing area and the difficulty in securing high-quality, large-diameter timber. Finding timber of sufficient size and quality for guitar making is particularly difficult, and it is only used in a limited number of high-end guitars. Beyond its rarity, the fact that "high-quality timber suitable for musical instruments is scarce in general" is a major reason for its value.

It is also exceptionally good acoustically, possessing rich bass and harmonic richness, while its higher density and rigidity result in a very clear sound contour. Each frequency range, from low to high, rises without muddiness, and even when played forcefully, the sound does not easily break down, producing a powerful sound with a strong core.

The F50 boasts the rich, deep sound characteristic of Lowden guitars, as well as exceptional responsiveness to subtle nuances. It vividly renders the expression of each note in fingerstyle playing, while providing rich sound pressure and power in strumming.
