■The technology cultivated in HiFi has elevated the performance and functionality of the DJ turntable.
The technology cultivated in the development of Technics' new HiFi audio products, including the SL-1200G released in 2016, has been applied. To solve the problem of rotational unevenness that was an issue with direct-drive turntables, the motor is a coreless direct-drive motor that eliminates the core (iron core) from the coil. The magnetic force of the rotor magnet has been improved to the extreme, achieving torque performance that surpasses that of the SL-1200MK6.

Furthermore, the platter incorporates a structure that securely fixes the rotor yoke and rotor magnets that make up the motor, and firmly connects the motor and platter, enabling more stable rotation. In addition, the electrical circuit is tuned to maximize the performance of the motor and platter. As a result, it achieves rotational accuracy that surpasses the SL-1200MK6, while maintaining a comparable start-up time of 0.7 seconds (at 33 1/3 revolutions).

Advanced motor control technology ensures stable rotation. Furthermore, this product allows you to adjust torque and brake speed to your preferred level, and also features a reverse playback function for records, expanding the possibilities of DJ performance. In addition, detachable AC input/PHONO terminals are used to improve cable maintenance. The PHONO terminals are gold-plated to minimize sound quality degradation, enabling high-purity signal transmission.

■Operation and layout that can be used with the same feel as the SL-1200MK series. In turntables, the size of the unit, the position of the buttons, and the feeling of the force required to rotate the platter are important factors that affect performance. In the SL-1200MK7, while performance has been improved by making full use of digital technology, the external dimensions, button layout, and platter inertia mass have been kept the same as the SL-1200MK6 specifications, achieving the same feel of operation as before, so even those who are used to previous models can use this product without any discomfort.

■High-quality sound design including a high-rigidity chassis and high-damping insulators. The chassis, which reduces external vibrations, employs a two-layer structure that firmly integrates a special material made of ABS with glass fiber and an aluminum die-cast chassis. By combining the special material with increased rigidity with the metal chassis, a robust chassis is realized that achieves a high level of both rigidity and vibration damping. The insulators that support the chassis are made of springs and rubber, and are designed to ensure optimal frequency characteristics, thereby achieving high sound quality and high resistance to howling, as well as efficiently blocking external vibrations even in high-volume environments.

Furthermore, the tonearm inherits Technics' traditional static-balance S-shaped universal tonearm, and the tonearm pipe is made of lightweight yet highly rigid aluminum. The tonearm bearing section of the gimbal suspension structure uses high-precision bearings with machined housings. As a result, it achieves higher initial sensitivity than the SL-1200MK6, enabling highly accurate reading of records and high tracking performance that prevents needle skipping even during hard playing such as scratching.

The rotation speed can be switched between 33 1/3 RPM, 45 RPM, and 78 RPM. Furthermore, the pitch control function, which allows for rotation speed adjustment within a range of ±8%/±16%, now features improved tracking and accuracy thanks to digital control of the pitch slider position detection and microcontroller, enabling precise and stable pitch adjustment.
