VitalAudio POWER CARRIER VA-08 Mk-III

A next-generation all-in-one power supply that drives both multi-devices and tablets simultaneously.
Established in 1991 as a guitar cable brand, Vital Audio boasts a quarter-century history as our original brand.
For many years, it has been a favorite among many guitarists and bassists, from professionals to amateurs, and is recognized as a long-established brand among Japanese cable manufacturers.

In July 2016, we launched the POWER CARRIER series of power supplies for effect pedals.
The VA-08, the second model in the series, garnered attention, and its further evolved version, the VA-08 Mk-II, became a massive hit, establishing itself as a staple power supply for effect boards and beloved by many musicians.

Throughout the many years we have produced the Mk-II, we have strived to provide a better product by continuously refining its internal circuitry.
Leveraging the expertise accumulated during that process, and aiming to offer new solutions tailored to modern needs and further improve performance, the VA-08 evolves into the Mk-III.

[Eight isolated ports and a variable voltage port]
The isolated port and the 9/12/18V variable voltage port, which were first introduced in the VA-08 Mk-II, have been faithfully carried over to the Mk-III.

Because each port is isolated, even when mixing analog and digital pedals, there is no noise interference, resulting in a clean sound.

Two of the eight isolated ports have variable voltage, allowing you to power not only 9V pedals but also preamps that support 12V or 18V without using a dedicated adapter.


[Variable voltage + maximum 2000mA port]
The VA-08 Mk-III now includes a new multi-processor compatible port with a variable voltage of 9/12/18V and a maximum current of 2000mA.

This matches modern needs. Many players use multi-processors in conjunction with stompboxes. However, these have different voltage requirements and require larger current capacities.

Therefore, a dedicated power supply is required to drive multiple processors, but many users want to do it all with the same power supply.
To address these requests, we decided to add a separate high-capacity DC port in addition to the one used for the stompbox, thus dividing the roles between the two.


[Equipped with USB-A/USB-C ports]
The newly added USB ports include both Type-A and Type-C ports, with the USB-C port supporting PD (Power Delivery).
Therefore, by using a PD-compatible DC cable, you can add another power supply to the pedals.

*Oyaide Electric's PD Trigger Cable supports 9V/12V, allowing you to choose the appropriate voltage for your connected device.

USB-A ports not only enable power supply for electronic devices such as tablets, which are now indispensable, but can also power USB bus-powered audio interfaces and MIDI controllers.


[Achieves a slim design that can be incorporated into the back of a thin slatted board]
The most striking external feature of the VA-08 Mk-III is its slimmer profile compared to the Mk-II.

Many users have been trying to figure out how to use the VA-08 in the limited space of a slatted board, but the main obstacle has been its thickness.

Because of its thickness, it couldn't utilize the space at the bottom, and therefore couldn't be used in combination with other items.
In the Mk-III, we embarked on a slimming down process to address these issues.

To prevent heat buildup inside by reducing the height, we redesigned the circuitry, reviewed the components, and strengthened the protection circuits to achieve this size.


[Increased power with a large 18V 3.5A input]
The VA-08 Mk-III required a larger input due to various functional improvements, such as the addition of high-capacity ports and USB ports.
Therefore, the adapter used has also been upgraded to a high-capacity 18V 3.5A.


[Redesign and strengthening of circuits to accommodate thinner designs and increased capacity]
The VA-08 Mk-III is significantly thinner than its predecessor, the Mk-II, and is now almost as thin as the VA-05 Mk-II.
On the other hand, the number of ports has increased, and it has been upgraded to be more powerful.

In response to these specification changes, and to avoid potential problems caused by overheating, we redesigned the internal circuitry and selected the components used, completely overhauling the circuit.

We are striving to avoid damage to the main unit and connected devices by using components that do not overheat and by further strengthening the protection circuit in case of high temperatures.
