FAQ

Descripción

MUSICMAN, founded by Leo Fender after his contract with CBS ended, continues to produce attractive instruments, even as the brand itself has changed ownership over time.

The StingRay series, first released in 1976, has since become a flagship model, and its bass version is still loved by players all over the world today.

This particular model features an ash body in a sunburst finish and a maple neck, materials and construction similar to those used by Fender during the same period. It has a string-through-body bridge and we believe it was shipped around 1982.

【body】
The total weight is approximately 4.9 kg. The body is made of ash wood. The naturally faded sunburst color highlights the beauty of the wood grain. There is some clear overspray on the body top and back, belt buckle marks on the back of the body, signs of use such as dents and scratches from playing, and some plating peeling and tarnishing on the metal parts, but it can be said to be in relatively good condition. The mute device is missing.

【neck】
The neck is made of maple, and the fingerboard is made of rosewood. Like the body, the back of the neck has a clear overcoat. One of its charms is the beautiful wood grain that becomes visible from the back of the neck to the top of the headstock depending on the viewing angle. There is some paint discoloration and tarnishing of the metal parts commensurate with its age, but like the body, it is in relatively good condition. The tuners function properly, although there is some inconsistency in the tightness of the winding. The frets and nut show no extreme wear, and the playability is good. The nut width is 43.6mm. It can be said that the neck shape is wide and relatively neat.

[Electrical System]
This bass features a preamp from the non-epoxy era and has the following controls: master volume, treble control, and bass control. The pickups are humbuckers with the large pole pieces familiar to Music Man basses. The control components, including the pickups, are in their original condition.

It responds well to picking, has solid output, and the active controls work effectively. It boasts a crisp attack, a thick, core low end, and a well-defined midrange. Slap bass delivers a clear, articulate sound, while fingerstyle playing produces a thick, sustained, and impactful tone. This is a guitar that lets you fully enjoy the classic Stingray sound.
