We've received a great deal on a used Japanese-made Prestige model, featuring an ash body and SSH pickup layout, which is rare for an RG model!
The RG2560ZEX is a new addition to the Prestige RG series, now considered a staple of Ibanez, featuring an SSH pickup configuration. Based on the themes of "Precision, Performance, and Playability," this high-end model is made in Japan with thorough quality control, highly playable and functional hardware, and various processing techniques.
The "RG2560ZEX" features an ash body with excellent tonal balance, clear tone, and extended sustain, and employs a pearloid pickguard-mounted SSH pickup configuration. While Ibanez primarily uses HSH configurations, their attempt at an SSH layout in an RG model likely reflects a desire to better accommodate the diversity of modern playing styles. The tone of the single-coil pickups, exemplified by Fender's ST series, especially the sweet and punchy sound used in the neck position, is loved by players of all ages and genres, from emotional lead playing to groovy cutting in the half-tone position. It's a guitar that embodies the desire for and demand for versatility, and it's only natural that such a specification would appear in their lineup.
This particular unit shows significant signs of use, including paint chips and dents extending to the wood around the output jack, scratches, rust/tarnish on the metal parts, and dirt.
Overall, there is some fret lifting (slight buzzing noise on the 6th string's upper frets when played acoustically), the neck is currently almost straight, and although there are some areas where buzzing can be felt, there are no critical dead spots.
The frets have about 70% remaining (some dents), and there are no problems with the electronics or truss rod.
