FAQ

Descripción

The Les Paul 55, released in 1974, is a reissue of the 1955 Les Paul Special. Initially, it featured a combination bar bridge like the original, but later versions adopted a Tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece. The basic colors were dark sunburst and wine red (lime mahogany was introduced in the 1977 version).

【body】
The total weight is approximately 3.45 kg. The body is made of mahogany. The wine red color has faded considerably, settling into the brownish hue that is characteristic of mahogany. Weather checking, paint chipping from the belt buckle, dents, and other signs of use, as well as tarnishing of the parts, are visible, giving it a wonderful vintage instrument feel. The bridge is a combination bar bridge, the same as the 1955 model, but it has now been replaced with a new Japanese-made one.

【neck】
The neck is made of mahogany, and the fingerboard is made of rosewood. There are some dents around the headstock and on the back of the neck, and overall signs of use, but like the body, it is in good condition with a nice atmosphere. The tuners have been replaced with GOTOH tuners, and the winding is fairly consistent, resulting in good playability. The frets and nut have been replaced, and playability is good. The nut width is 43.2mm. It can be said to have a relatively solid neck shape. The truss rod cover has also been replaced.

[Electrical System]
The controls are in the orthodox Les Paul style: 3-way pickup selector / front (neck) position volume / front position tone / rear (bridge) position volume / rear position tone. The pickups are original P-90 clear bobbin pickups. The control parts, including the pickups, are original to the time.

This guitar boasts a midrange-heavy, slightly wide-range output characteristic of 70s P-90 pickups. Combined with an all-mahogany body, it delivers a tone that combines the richness typical of a Les Paul Special with the dry, clear texture that symbolizes 70s rock. The crunch provides a pleasant, articulate grittiness, while the clean tone offers a warmth with a crisp edge, making it versatile enough to handle a wide range of genres from hard rock to soul and funk.
