Ash wood body, recessed tremolo, SSH pickup layout model.
【AZ2204AG】
This 2026 model features an ash wood body with ample low-frequency and high-frequency characteristics, excellent sustain, and is equipped with Seymour Duncan pickups specially developed for the AZ model, mounted on the pickguard in an SSH configuration.
This Prestige model is the first to feature gold-colored parts.
◆AZ Oval C S-TECH WOOD Roasted Maple 1pc neck
This original neck shape was created by measuring and analyzing dozens of guitar neck grips, both from our own company and other manufacturers.
This comfort grip features a smooth, rounded shape from the joint between the fretboard and neck down to the fretboard edge.
The shape is accurately and reliably reproduced using ball milling.
The shape is designed with particular consideration for ease of gripping in the lower fret area and for classical style playability with the thumb placed on the back of the neck in the higher fret area.
It uses maple wood treated with ESTEC, a nitrogen heat treatment technology.
Wood treated with ESTEC technology possesses characteristics such as dimensional stability, resistance to warping, water resistance, and resistance to temperature changes, and this technology is patented in Japan.
Furthermore, the finish uses an oil finish that gives it the texture of a well-played guitar neck.
◆S-TECH WOOD Roasted Maple fretboard with Stainless Frets
With the goal of ensuring that the strings don't get muffled even with wide-ranging bends, and that chord work doesn't cause stress on the fingers or hands, we incorporated several challenges, including the combination with the neck, into several prototypes and arrived at this 305mmR fingerboard after much trial and error.
◆Luminlay side dot inlay
It features highly visible 3.0mm diameter phosphorescent dot position markers that can adapt to the rapidly changing performance environment due to lighting and other factors.
Even on a dark stage, you won't lose sight of the sound you want to play.
◆An ergonomic body back contour
This is an original body shape designed with a contemporary aesthetic in mind.
The thin body contour and large elbow contour create a sense of unity between the player and the guitar, greatly contributing to improved playability. Furthermore, the deeper waist of the body makes it easier to hold and handle on stage, resulting in superior playability.
The body features different corner radii on the front and back surfaces, resulting in an ergonomic design that provides a comfortable fit the moment you pick up the guitar, whether sitting or standing.
◆Super All Access Neck Joint
The Super All Access neck joint features a stepped carving on the back of the body with an 8mm height difference, and the neck joint is finished with a spherical surface to achieve superior playability.
The cutaway on the bass string side is designed to be shallower, maximizing the contact area between the body and neck. This achieves both excellent playability and good sustain and resonance.
◆The spring-muting rubber
This is a rubber spring mute installed to suppress the spring resonance/vibration that often occurs on tremolo bridge-type guitars.
◆Bone nut
It uses oil-impregnated cow bone nuts.
The smooth nut design significantly contributes to tuning stability, while also achieving a resonance similar to that of vintage guitars.
◆Gotoh T1802 tremolo bridge
The GOTOH 510 bridge, widely regarded by many players and guitar brands as the definitive tremolo bridge, has been reborn through a collaboration between Ibanez and GOTOH.
Featuring a hard, machined titanium saddle and machined steel inertia block, this guitar achieves both excellent attack and a solid, fat sound, while also boasting extended high frequencies.
The string spacing is a narrow 10.5mm, designed to make it easier to pick across strings, a feature demanded by players who frequently use string skipping and hybrid picking.
Furthermore, it features an arm socket that allows the use of the Ibanez Edge tremolo arm and the Ultra Light Tremolo Arm (carbon fiber/UTA20/sold separately).
Unlike conventional arms that require twisting, this design allows for snap-in attachment of the arm.
The torque of the tremolo arm can be easily adjusted by rotating the torque cap on the arm mounting section.
In addition, it comes standard with a stud lock mechanism that firmly secures the studs with grub screws embedded in them, greatly contributing to tuning stability and resonance.
It employs a two-point floating support system that allows for smooth arming and arm-up movements.
◆Gotoh Magnum Lock machine heads w/HAP
It features Gotoh Magnum Lock machine heads, which are renowned for their tuning stability.
It features a HAP (Height Adjustable Post) mechanism, allowing you to adjust the post height and obtain the appropriate tension for each string.
◆Seymour Duncan Hyperion Pickups
We obtained dozens of different pickups and measured the frequency characteristics of all of them.
From among those options, we determined the optimal pickup specifications and sound image for the AZ, and created this AZ-exclusive pickup in collaboration with Seymour Duncan, a pickup brand with a long history and a reputation for continuing to innovate.
This custom pickup is designed to retain some of the original clean tone even when distorted, with a slightly reduced output and a focus on picking responsiveness and accuracy.
We prioritized the overall balance, from the treble to the bass, and even the tone of each string from the 1st to the 6th, while also striving for excellent effect response.
All magnets used are Alnico-5.
