Fender's first solid-body electric bass, the Precision Bass, was born and released in 1951. Following the success of the Precision Bass, the Jazz Bass was released later, and it continues to influence the music scene today.

This time, we have a Precision Bass with a 1958 neck and a body that appears to be from the mid-1960s. Featuring an anodized aluminum pickguard, this is a guitar perfect for players.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.7 kg. The alder body features jig marks from the mid-1960s. The body color has been refinished in the past and is now a creamy white with a gold anodized aluminum pickguard. The body thickness has been slightly reduced by the refinishing, but it remains at approximately 40.4 mm. There is weather checking on the paint surface, dents and peeling, and rust and tarnish on the metal parts, giving it the appearance of a vintage instrument. The finger rest and metal parts are missing.

【neck】
The neck is made of one piece of maple. While hidden by the overall weathering, the beautiful flame grain is also noteworthy. There is some paint chipping, dents, and tarnish on the metal parts, but like the body, it is in good condition, reminiscent of a vintage instrument. The paint chipping on the back of the neck due to use gives it a smooth, vintage feel. The tuners have some unevenness and play, but this should not affect normal use. The frets and nut have been replaced in the past, and there is no significant wear, so playability is good. The headstock is 13.9mm thick. The nut width is 43.9mm, making it a C-neck. The neck profile is relatively clean.

[Electrical system]
The controls are simple, single-pickup P-bass-style (master volume/master tone). The pickups are custom-wound with a '50s-style magnet arrangement. All consumable parts, such as the pot, capacitor, and output jack, have been replaced. The 1958 maple neck and '60s alder body combine to produce a distinctive sound character, with a thick low end and a lustrous midrange. The attack is smooth, yet the sound image is clear. It responds well to picking nuances, producing a warm, supple tone when played with fingers and a powerful, well-defined sound when played with a pick. The tone is naturally balanced when turned down, resulting in a rich, full-bodied sound that's characteristic of an Old Precision guitar.
